I am new to LTTTC and I not on very often but when I get very frustrated with my periods this place is where I come for help and advice and everyone is great.

Small recap on my story. I stopped birth control dec 2009 after I finished high school but I have had big problems with my period since I got it 6 years before then hence why I was taking birth control. July 2010 my periods stopped completely until dec 2010 and I was diagnosed with PCOS. I also got engaged at the same time and I started to focus on TTC and prepare for when we are married we can start TTC. July 2011 I officially started actively TTC but before then a few times I cheated hubby into free balling but no success (we married in aug 2011). Now it has been 12 months of actively TTC and not success and it has been a hell of a time. I have only have my period 9 times in the last year so I had 9 tries at conceiving plus I think I only ovulated about 4 times in those periods.

I have the most weirdest periods this last year and it makes everything so difficult. Last month my cycle was actually 36 days which was great but when u don't know that's going to happen makes things worse. I am usually between 45 - 60 day cycles so I never expected a shorter cycle and everything was off so no success. (tmi sorry) I noticed this morning when I work up I went to the toilet and wiped and I had a huge amount of ewcm on the toilet paper. I do sometimes get large amounts but not this much. It was really stretchy big blob but still very wet. If I calculations are correct my period is due in 15 days so maybe today is ovulation or even tomorrow! I have never had this before and I wanted to know if anyone else has?

hi, i didnt want to read and run. i feel like the 30 days i wait for my period each month is too long, so i cant imagine having a 45-60 day cycle. have you spoken to your doctor about taking anything to kinda jump start your period? i've never done so, but ive read a lot of people on here who talk about it...

everyone is different, but i do know that EWCM is a good sign of ovulation, and if you have loads of it...i'd put 2 and 2 together and say that theres a chance your ovulating. good luck!!

:hugs: and good luck!

Hey there

are you doing anything to track ovulation? I have PCOS as well, and the only way I can know if I am ovulating or not is by doing BBT. If you're not doing it already I highly recommend it!

With PCOS, your body can repeatedly try to ovulate but fail. EWCM is normally a great sign for ovulation, but unfortunately people with PCOS can see multiple patches of EWCM before they actually ovulate, so without the BBT it really hard to know which of those patches relates to ovulation. Also, some women get a day or two of EWCM in the run-up to their period, because the progesterone levels are dropping and the oestrogen is rising. The best thing to do is just keep on having sex so you know you are always covered.

I spent our first year TTC just trying to guess when I was ovulating and relying on just observing my body's symptoms but I found it really hard. Once I discovered BBT it has been easier - the only thing with BBT is you only know after you have ovulated, you dno't know before. But at the very least it gives you comfort that you have ovulated and you will know when to expect AF. Also you can figure out some rough rules for your own body. E.g. for me, I know that ovulation can happen anytime from CD 25 so I make sure we start having lots of sex the week before.

We've not been lucky yet but fingers crossed. I'm going to be starting clomid next cycle, which is often prescribed to women with PCOS. Since it has been a year, I'd say it's worth talking to your doc about the next steps and if they would recommend any kind of drug treatment to give you more opportunities to conceive.

Good luck! x
