Hi there! Hope you are all well. I have been reading some of the threads and thought it was about time I introduced myself!
I hope I'm not too old to join you!
My name is Tasha, I am 21 and I am 23 weeks pregnant with a beautiful baby boy! My OH and I found out around christmas time that we were having a surprise baby, it took a few weeks for it to sink in but after that we were extremely happy.
On the 11th Jan I woke up in agony. I was 99.9% sure I was experiencing a miscarriage (after having one in august, I knew the symtoms). Went straight to A&E and got sent to EPP for emergancy scan. Baby was in correct place with a strong heart beat but measuring two weeks behind. Doctor then decided to do internal scan. As he scanned he put pressure the right side of my tummy. I was in so much pain. I got the shock of my life when he said, "I am sending you straight for emergancy surgery, your appendix is about to burst!"
I was then told that getting this op during pregnancy is very risky for both me and the baby. There would be a high risk of miscarriage after the surgery but if i didn't get the op I would be in danger.
I had bonded with my baby and watched it dance around on the scan but now I had to decide. I opted to have my appendix removed knowing that I would probably not see my precious bean on the screen again.
I woke from surgery the next day feeling empty. Three days later I had to be scanned to check for a heart beat. As i lay on the bed with my eyes shut tight and tears rolling down my face, I couldn't bring myself to look at the screen. "There's your tiny jelly bean" the doctor said. That little baby is a fighter!
It has taken me until now to get back on my feet after the surgery. It still doesn't feel real and I don't think it will until I have my fighter baby boy in my arms in August. He is measuring a week behind now and loves kicking me! I have got a non existent bump at the moment but hopefully it will get bigger over time!
Thought I would share my story as it is nice to hear positives once in a while!
I hope I am welcome to join baby and bump!
