Just want to know how do live with the money that you that?? i only work parttime so i only make £550 a month i need to sort out tax credits and stuff but me and jack are living with my mum for now which is nice only need to pay a little bit, but i want to look for a 2bedroom apartment but they cost about £550 a month i know i can get housing money but not sure how much does anyone know.....

Hiya hun, Sorry to welcome you here.

I am staying with my mum as well, i have applied to the local council and housing associations and may look at private rental.
Best advice i can give is to go to citizens advice, also the web site entitled to .com is quite good at giving you a rough figure of what you may get. xxx

hi if you go on to the tax credit web site there is a part called do i qualify it will tell you what you would get, I was a single mum for three years and managed fine with my two boys. good luck

awww thanks guys hope i do, i will have a look at those sites

Hey hun, sorry to hear about your split but as you can see there are many of us single parents to so big hugs to you :hugs:

With the child tax credits, give the helpline a call. A lot of people say they are not helpful but tbh, I've always found them really helpful with me and always get the forms sent out quick. I'm not sure how much you'd get as i get full child tax creds as I get a student grant which isn't "income" to the inland revenue. The full amount for an under 1 is 65 pounds and think it goes down to 50 pounds a week when they turn one!

With the housing I dunno what its like in your area but it's no hope getting council here! I live in a private rented two bed flat and get local housing allowance from my council who help pay my rent. Most of mine gets covered as i have a low income so i think you'd get help to. :)

Hope this helps xx

Yeah like everyone said can go online and do your tax credits, also with housing dont know if its just my council, but you can go online with my council and put in all your drtils and it will tell you how much if any they will help towards council tax and housing benefit xxx

I agree the tax credits site is really useful :flower:

Sending you hugs :hugs:
