Hi ladies,
I just wanted to say hello...I hope most of you remember me, he he..it's been that long! If not, I have two preemies...Lakai born at 23.3 weeks and Marlow Rose born at 33.3 weeks. Lakai is now 3 and Marlow is seven months corrected. They are both doing fabulously! Aside from having a terrible winter for illness, so far Lakai has had croup and is currently getting over pneumonia.
For newbie who don't know me, Lakai suffered a Grade IV IVH on the left side of his brain (the dr's encouraged us to remove him from care because of it...often), ROP, he had his PDA ligated which caused his left vocal cord to paralyze...which caused him to aspirate on food and liquids, so he has a g-tube. Right now he eats orally and drinks water orally, but still gets milk via his g-tube. We had hoped the tube would come out this summer but after this illness filled winter, especially with pneumonia (which can be caused by aspiration)...I doubt it will. Lakai suffered pretty much all the things a preemie can in the NICU, intubated for 71 days...failed to CPAP 3 times...and so on.
Today he is a thriving, smart and wonderful little man!
Marlow had an easy NICU stay, only 20 days. She didn't need oxygen and never had an IV even (they couldn't get one in, so never bothered). She had to grow and feed and get over jaundice and bradys. She came home with reflux, but it's gone now. She is a massive 20lbs at 7 months...and only weighs 8lbs less than her brother!
I don't want to sit here talking about myself anymore.... so if you are curious what's going on with us, check out my new blog F*ck Prematurity!
Any ways, I just wanted to say hello and would love to hear how and what every one's preemies are doing?!
