Hi, new here... looking for support and advice :)

Hiya all. I'm new here. Just joined today. Finally decided I'm actually upset that i'm still TTC my second after a year of trying. Was happily just going along month by month thinking 'oh we'll just wait and see what happens'... well nothing's happening and I had a mini break down this morning when AF turned up... again! It was so easy the first time around.. First month off of the pill and i'm pregnant.

Anyway.... i'm now thinking it's time to start getting some testing done. I"ll probably wait until the new year to get things going but just wanted to get an idea of the first steps the doc's will take? Anyone able to share their experiences i'd very much appreciate it.

Welcome, wischy! I hope your stay in the TTC forums is short. The first tests a dr will likely order are hormone checks. FSH, LH, AMH, progesterone, estrogen (called estradiol), probably TSH, maybe prolactin. And they might do an ultrasound to look at your ovaries and uterus. They'll probably want to see a sperm analysis for you DH pretty early on, too. It'll feel good to be moving forward, good luck!

I'm new here to! My husband and I have not had a pregnancy in 13 years and I'm just done "letting it happen if it's going to happen". It's so frustrating and heart breaking. Last week we did the dance on Monday (supposedly a "fertile" day) had an ultrasound and it showed folicals on Friday but we only had that one day before the job dragged him away. I'm sure that once again it will be a disappointing week next week when aunt flow comes visiting. Good luck with your ttc journey.

We had been trying for 9 months before I went to the Dr. The Dr. started my testing off with an HSG and hubby with a semen analysis. When my HSG showed a blocked tube, I had a dual ultrasound. I ended up having surgery this month to remove two polyps and now we have the ok to try again in January (our one year anniversary). Best of luck to you!
