I see a specialist to monitor my blood pressure and baby due to risk of preeclampsia...well I had a growth scan last night and Dr said baby looked perfect but said I had excess amniotic fluid - I'm just wanting to know if anyone else is in the same boat and how worried I should be.

She stated it could just be what's normal for this pregnancy, which leads me to believe she's not too concerned and it's not too much higher then the normal range...but also stated it could be a sign of GD.

I did do a little research last night to ease my concerns and saw that being on IV fluids can increase amniotic levels and I was in the ER 2 weeks ago on an IV, so maybe this could be the culprit?

I see my regular ob Tuesday, so just want to be prepared with questions. I'm a little nervous about the risk of preterm labor

With my last baby I had high amniotic fluid levels as well. The doctors weren't too concerned and I personally wish they had shown more concern. (Levels were in the low to mid 30's) I did not have GD just a lot of fluid.

The biggest issue I had was delivery. My water broke due to (surprise surprise) pressure. Because of so much fluid part of it fell on my cervix and resealed essentially creating a second sac. While the other part still leaked and by that I mean gushed. They didn't notice this until 16 hours after my water broke. :-/ the broke it and I finally went into active labor. So the fluid prevented him from descending.

Hello i had this with my last pregnancy diagnosed at 28 weeks and at its worst my levels were 30-35 (normal is under 25). My levels slowly crept up from marginally raised to severe. I had scan after scan and a fetal medicine scan to look for abnormalities but nothing was found and my DS was fine. I wasnt allowed to work or drive past 32 weeks and was induced at 38 weeks. They broke my waters and oh my god the amount of waters was unreal. The two male doctors who broke my waters were absolutely drenched which was very embarrassing lol. I did have a difficult labour because all the waters had stopped him coming down into the birth canal properly and in ended up with emergency forceps.

Hopefully your doctor will test for GD but usually its just 'one of those things' and it may be the IV fluids you mention.Fingers crossed it goes back to normal. For me the main issue was just being uncomfortable; everytime i stood up my bump went hard and it was so tight and stretched. When they broke my waters the relief was immense. Id recommend keeping off google ...i googled like mad and was terrified but my doc said even with levels as high as i had, this only gives you a 5% chance of anything actually being wrong with the baby.

hope this helps in some way. Got a feeling yours was just a teeny bit raised though if they werent overly concerned x
