Hi there,

My name is Rachel, I'm a newbie to the site, just thought I'd see if there was anyone out there with a similar story to mine..... I'm feeling lost, alone & a little desperate & although I really wouldn't wish anyone to be in the same boat as me I'd like to hear from them!

I'm 36, soon to be 37- ouch! The difference to my story is I had Chemotherapy (CMF) for Breast Cancer in 1999 at the age of 27.
My boyfriend & I have been TTC # 1 for just over 3 years, yes that is 36 months plus, following a MC in Nov 05.

My cycles were regular 28 cd before the PG in 2005. What makes my situation even more frustrating was the PG in 2005 was an accident, we were not trying at all but we were delighted all the same & completely devastated by the loss.

Since then my cylces have been completely erratic to say the least, ranging from 24cd to 90cd. They have gotten far more erratic in the last year & I've only had 6 cycles, 2 of which were annovulatory.

My boyfriend & I have been tested, he's fine but my FSH has been as high as 45 which is scary!!! Most of the time it is around 13 which I know is considered high but hey after a 45 result thats a breeze!!!

The FSH has been put down to the chemo damaging my ovaries, by the one GYN specialist who I saw in August last year. They just took a quick & I mean a faster than the speed of light quick look at my blood results & history, diagnosed perimenopause & no hope for me TC my own child, despite the fact I conceived in 2005. They offered no help or advise or any other investigation, which I felt was a little harsh and just sent me on my way.

I'm due to see another GYN on Thursday next week and I'm trying to gather questions I should ask or things I should be asking them to try or check out. I don't want to be as helpless & speechless as I was at the last appointment! Any suggestions would be gratefully received as there is bound to be stuff I've not thought or heard of out there!

I just feel that as all this high FSH & erratic cycle business started after the m/c there might be something thats being overlooked? It just feels like its easier for the Docs to blame it on my history & the chemo and not bother to do anything else. Bit of a rant - sorry!

Thanks for reading the essay above and as I said if you've a similar experience be it chemo, high FSH, perimenopause or lack of understanding from the docs it would be great to hear from you!

I have no advice to give on this subject but i didnt wanna read and run.

I know of people on here who are ttc with elevated fsh so hopefully they can give you some ideas.

Stay strong and positive hun...there is always hope!! :) And well done on beating the breast cancer-- you are obviously a fighter and that will do you lots of good in this ttc game!

Big Hugs, Omi xxx
