Hi Ladies!

I am currently 6w1d. I lost a pregnancy in December at 6 weeks so I am very happy to be back in the first trimester!

Quick question for you guys: I had my HCG drawn at 14 DPO and it was 718! I had them drawn again at 28DPO and it was over 36,000. I've done some reading and it has been implied it could be twins. Has anyone had similar numbers and had just one healthy bean in there? Not that I would be upset with twins, but one just seems less overwhelming.

Thanks so much!

The range between singletons and twins is not as wide as most people think. So, it could go either way. I wouldn't worry too much until you see two dots on the ultrasound. ;)

Hi hun... didn't want to read and run... i know so little about HCG numbers as I've never had them taken in any of my pregnancies.

There are a number of Twin and Triplet Mummies about in the 1st tri... so I'm sure one of them will be along soon to let you know! :hugs:

Can you request an early scan? That would let you know xxx

You had higher numbers than I did and I am having twins! My dr told me though that higher number do not always indicate twins and that they have seen people with singleton pregnancies have high numbers from the start...each woman is different :D

When do you go for your first scan? We found out at 6 weeks that we were having twins

Hcg shud double every 48 hours in singleton pregnancy. Someone do the math as I have lazy brain at this hour. Lol

I'm seeing my doctor next Wednesday on the 16th and I'm going to get a requisition for a scan then! I hope that I can find a clinic to see me pretty quickly as I'm anxious to see that everything is alright.

After a miscarriage, I'm super paranoid, but hopeful that this time everything will be alright!

I am 7 weeks 1 day and my bloods Sunday night were 75,000, only one bubs in there :) Consultant just told me there are a few people who just get very high levels, doesn't necessarily mean anything good or bad.

my numbers were also high in the begining and I had a feeling and it did turn out to be 2 :) I was also felt nausea

Last pregnancy
10DPO HCG 19
13DPO HCG 1028
21DPO HCG 4939
23DPO HCG 10338
He is a happy healthy 2 year old boy

This pregnancy
12DPO HCG 42
14DPO HCG 161
20DPO HCG 5189
Confirmed Triplets, saw all three heartbeats

So as you can see, my singleton pregnancy HCG was WAY higher than my triplet pregnancy. I don't put too much stock in the numbers.

For whatever reason, my body produces a lot of HCG when I am pregnant. I was hospitalized during my last pregnancy b/c my levels were so extremely high and the Dr. was worried that it was a molar pregnancy. It wasn't. My daughter was perfectly fine and so was I. The levels started dropping and everything was ok. I think I am going through the same thing right now with this little one. I am really really sick but I know that it will go away soon and I am only having one baby again. So, yes, I think it is not unheard of to have high levels with a single pregnancy

Thanks ladies! Hopefully I'll be able to get a scan in a week or two and see what's happening in there.

Katie, any updates? I'm having very high HCG levels as well and of course I am nervous now!

I was at 46,000 at 6w 3d and both ultrasounds have shown only 1 bambino!

One healthy baby for me! Just had my twenty week scan and there is one baby in there.

Mine was 81,000 at 6w2d, and 220,000 at 9w. Just one baby....

Mine were 77,000 at 6w1d, 120,000 at 6w6d, and 230,000 at 7w2d( just one baby)
I was scared too about my numbers, an Emergency Room doctor thought i was either having a secondary ectopic pregnancy, or that i was further along than i was measuring and would miscarry soon but i wasn't thank GOD. So i guess every women is different and as long as they are increasing we shouldn't be too worried.

Thank you guys, so much. That makes me feel much better. Mine was 22,181 yesterday and I was measuring 5w0d (but should be about 5w2d according to dates and there is no way I'm further than that).

I was worried that high HCG would increase the risk of downs but my ratio was 1 in 50,000. So I guess some ladies just produce higher levels than others.

Thanks, Katie! I was a nervous wreck about it last night. I had a hard time finding any examples of women with levels that high and it was freaking me out. Hopefully in another week there will be a little beating heart in there for me and I can calm down a bit.
