I've been told that my platelet count is a bit high. I had another blood test done yesterday and they are keeping an eye on it. My midwife said it was nothing to worry about and it was just slightly above the normal levels but they need to recheck it.

Does anyone know what this means or if it is anything to worry or be concerned about.

Thanks

I was also told this about 5 weeks ago...low iron and high platelets. From the little i can find it is something to do with clotting  My midwife also said 'nothing to worry about'.

I've got a gp app at 3 so results from my re-test last week should be there, i'll see if i can get any better info out of her!

I must admit, if it IS nothing to worry about, i wish they wouldn't tell us about it!

:hugs:

Im the opposite ive got a really low platelet count, they found it when i was carrying my son. Now im monitored every 3 weeks by a consultant. I dont think high ones are anything to worry about though. Xx

Ok, GP tells me that my platelets are high level, but instead of being small cells, they are big cells....which could be a sign of low levels of vit b12 or folate, so i have to go for a third blood test now! She says i'm not actually low in iron, which can cause high platelets.

Never get the same story twice with different gp/mw do we?!
