I have ridiculous prolatin levels which I will discuss with someone on Tue. Just wondering the utcome for others. It aint looking good:wacko:

Have they only tested your levels once? My first results came back v. high, i went for a repeat and they were lower and 3rd time almost normal. Can be elevated due to stress :-)

Yeah only tested once. Bloody nurse at surgery said I should be paying privately for my blood test results. Have just about had it with NHS. Had a no of tests done and results have come back for some not others and I have results for things that i hadn't even been tested for??? Arrrggggggg

I had high prolactin levels - after I mc (yes, prolactin levels are elevated due to a pregnancy but the docs seemed to have a reason for concern as they sent me straight to see a consultant?!)

I had 3 series of blood tests, before I got to the third tests I'd started having acupuncture and reflexology, had the blood tests. When I got my results they had levelled off?

Could just be coincidence but I think acupuncture really helped, could be worth a try

Prolactin is a pregnancy hormone, so it is perfectly normal for it to be elevated when pregnant, after birth and if you've had a mc. Mine were elevated and non of the above applied!

Gosh that's interesting its related to pregnancy- I have never been pregnant. I have just started acupuncture though- for period flow and ttc

Prolactin is the hormone that stops your periods when pregnant and stays high after birth or mc so you dont get pregnant straight away and also linked to the production of breast milk.

It can be high as i said just due to stress, thats why my doctor checked the levels again.

Did they tell you what your level was?

I have been put on cabergoline for high prolactin, take it twice a week and took care of the levels right away!

Hi Bepaisley,

How lonmg have you been ttc? do you think your high prolactin levels are linked to your pcos?

I've been ttc since last February...I'm not sure if they are linked or not but fixing prolactin levels is easy, I wouldn't be concerned about that!

High prolactin has nothing to do with PCOS. I have had HP for years and have been taking Bromocriptine to lower it. It was something like 1800 and now it is somewhere down to 200. When it is normal everything should be grand though. But you need to have a few tests down as it can elevate. I had to go every hour for three hours for three tests before they can say I have HP. I also had a CAT scan done too to check my proturity gland but it was fine.

Only if you are wanting to get pregnant I suppose.
Our bodies change all the time I think and may be if were are lucky, after pregnancy the level could stay low.

Can anyone tell me how did you choose your OB/GYN if you are TTC? I was also diagnosed with high prolactinoma and kept on Cabergoline. Now my levels are under control and TTC. I'm looking for an OB/GYN. Please help.
