I had an emergancy C-section with my LO as she was 11 weeks early and after my section i was told i couldn't have another baby for 2 years after a section but a friend of mine had a section too and was told 1 year :S just wondering how long you were told you had to wait? i've tried looking it up but theres such varied replies.

thanks for your help :) x

A friend of mine was told 2 years, but I wasn't told anything! Another friend was told a year is really fine for most, but in reality it's person to person.

There'll be 20 months between my two, and no one has yet mentioned the 2 year thing to me now either.

I wasn't told to wait. My LO is 4 months old and I'm pregnant again. I had my first MW app. yesterday and they didn't seem concerned, just made some jokes that it's gonna be a handful and I'm a pro at all the paperwork by now... :haha:

That's just me though, maybe there was a reason they told you that. My friend told me she was told to wait 4 years, she wasn't given a reason though!

it depends on each person, but i personally would wait a little while and give your body time to heal :hugs:

I was told by my doctor that it was best not to have another child within a year of having my daughter.

Dont get me wrong here girls im not thinking about another baby just yet! my daughter has a lot of problems and is in and out of hospital so i barely have time for anything let alone baby number 2! i was just wondering what you were all told :) thanks for all your help and congratulations ChezTunes! xx

i wasnt told anything though i do know they like you to wait a year at least just to give your body a chance to heal properly x

it's also to do with your scar not being properly healed, if you get pregnant quickly again you risk the scar tearing.

I wasn't told anything but when I was at the vbac clinic before having ds2 I asked about it as there are only 18 months between my two. I was told that if it had been less than 18 months it would have been considered a risk factor for vbac.

I was told after 2nd dd that I would have to have c-sections with subsequent births. When I asked about time scales she suggested I wait. Year before getting pregnant again so she was suggesting just under 2 years before another c-section.

I was pregnant again 9 months after my first c-section. My doctor never said anything about waiting. I did not have any problems. I even tried to do a VBAC without complications except I didn't progress. I think some doctors tend to be more cautious just in case. Some suggest a limit on c-sections and my doctor says it is just because they are lazy and don't want to take the extra 15minutes to get through the scar tissue.

I got pregnant a year after my c setion, vbac birth, never was it mentioned about my previous.

I just had my first LO by EMCS.

I was not told anything but my friend told me her OB recommended at least 18 months in between :)

I wasn't told to wait either. My baby is only 13 months old and I already have my next C section scheduled for Aug 14! It was an unplanned pregnancy this time around but my DR doesn't seem at all concerned, its the same one I had with my son.

I wasn't given a specific time limit but was just told not to get pregnant straight away..Which is fine with me as i find one baby a challenge at the moment

after my first csection i was told to wait a year but please do bear this in mind you can choose to have a natural birth or a csection for your second child when you have a vbac appointment (vaginal birth after csection) now i chose a csection after my second birth i was told because i had 2 csections that any other babies i have will have to be csections i dont no if its the same for everyone but i just thought id mention it if you were going to plan anymore babies congratulations btw x

I asked my GP's one said 18-24 months ideally and not less than 3, the other said how old is LO (10 months at the time) and said oh its fine to try now, so really varied i think.

Because you had your LO early though i would check with the hospital i think i read somewhere with very prem babies sometimes they have to do a classical incision instead as baby is small and this type of incision is more likely to rupture which could be why they suggested you wait at least 2 years. Might not be the case at all obviously but thought i would mention it.

I wasn't told to wait or anything! We're going to wait at least a year though as we couldn't cope with two so close!

I had a section a year ago this month and i am pregnant with my second, i wasnt told i had to wait x

I had my DS my EMCS 2 weeks ago, nothing has been said by anyone about waiting, only comment thats been made is that because I made it to fully dilated theres no reason why I cant have a vaginal birth next time...

Obviously haven't had my 6 week check yet.

In any case my OH has been very clear that he couldn't go through what we went through again so doesn't want any more
