Morning everyone. Was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and how to relieve it. I have always been a front sleeper, but as soon as I got my bfp changed to side or back. Trouble is, I am finding that sleeping on my side, I wake with really deep pain in my left hip, which will only go if I lay on my back something I won't be able to go safely for much longer. I have tried a body pillow tucked between my legs and have a memory foam mattress which should support. Any advice on why this happens, or how to relieve it? X

i get this, i use to also get it when i was over weight, i think its to do with the increase in weight on our hips. i sleep with a body pillow in between my legs and im up 4 times a night to pee so what ever side i wake up on to go the toilet i lie on the opposite side when i get back in bed. but if im in a deep sleep and havent moved in the night the pain in my hip wakes me up, mine is always on the left side too.

Thought it was just me suffering, but it seems quite common so I am relieved I am not alone, I guess it will only get worse as I get bigger as well.

I have been sleeping terribly the last 4 weeks or so, numbness in side when I sleep, have tried pillows all ways doesn't seem to be helping. Midwife said it is sciatica (sp?) common in pregnancy! Not much comfort though, when I still have over 13 weeks to go! But at least I am not alone...

I used a dreamgenii pillow to help relieve pressure on hips, bump and back - it's a bit more supportive than usual body pillows. Could try that? It helps to get baby into right position too. Hope you feel much better soon - lots of pregnancy pains seem to disappear as fast as they arrive...xxx

plzplz get checked out for a urine infection as i hadthis was having to swop sidesas pain in my hips etc found i had a urine infection that had gone unnoticed,2 days of antibiotics and ive slept like a log no pain for first time in 3 weeks.

I have this in both hips and have been seeing a physio about it. I have to do this exercise which has been helping quite a bit...

Basically you sit on the edge of your bed, feet on the floor and then lift one leg (say your left leg), rest that left ankle on your right knee (right foot still on floor) and then turn your body to face to left knee, and bend foward a little bit until you feel the stretch in your left hip... hold for 30 secs, then swap and do 3 times each side

;-)

I don't get pain, but my hip goes numb when I turn over. So if i am sleeping on my right, my left hip goes numb. Really strange.

I get really bad hip and knee pain when I go to bed at night no matter how I sleep and sometimes my feet go numb, my OB said its all the extra fluid and pressure from the baby pressing on nerves, but I use 3 pillows stacked between my knees and it has helped IMMENSELY! I'd give it a try!

Thanks ladies for all the tips, gonna give the 3 pillows a try i think. If that doesnt work, think ill be sleeping sitting up for the next 26 weeks! x

I got hip and leg pain in my right leg really badly from 14-17 weeks. It was so painfull sometimes that I could barely walk or move.
In the night just make sure to try not to lie on it too much, and try moving around.

I get a tingling pain in my hips, I have to lay on the side of my bump to get rid of it, then that doesnt always work x
