Hey ladies :)

I have a question - I recently changed from Aptamil to HIPP as my LO was quite a sicky baby. Now it seems to have calmed down (the sickness) but now she's constipated (the last 2 poo's are clay like and she's been very unsettled today - she was pooing really well on the aptamil)

How long should I try the HIPP for before we try another one? How old does she need to be to have some cooled boiled water?

She is 10 weeks tomorrow :)

Thanks

I was wondering how you were getting on with the Hipp. I am still considering trying LO on it to see if it helps her sickness and one-a-day-explosive poop.

My HV told me at our 10 day check that she can have cooled boiled water. No more than 2oz a day and two or three sucks at a time. My LO has started spitting it out, so I use an old infacol bottle that I sterlise.

I'm no expert, but perhaps the constipation is just because of the change over.

when did you change the milk? it takes time for them to get used to it

also most babys will have a time when they are a little consitpated like adults do if its hot it could be she needs extra fuild

i wouldnt change the milk id massarge her tummy every night and offer cool boiled water x

thanks ladies :)

will offer her some water and give the hipp a few more days - I think we're only on day 3 of the HIPP so it is early days - will try to give it a fortnight :)

It can take a while for LO's tummy to get used to the change. Fran was constipated a couple of days after she was born - we gave her cooled boiled water and it worked a treat. Her poo was quite hard to start with but gradually it got softer.

Then when we started her on hungry baby she got bunged up again for a few days but it soon sorted itself out.

No worries :flower:

I'm going to pick some cartons up tomorrow to try LO on. I'm hoping it also helps her sickness.

Mrs_C - it smells and tastes so much nicer than Aptamil :)

Have you tasted it? I don't like milk as it is so I haven't tried her formula. I have tried gripe water and that wasn't very nice, so I buy her Boots own which is apple flavoured. It smells like Apple Sours.

Hope LO improves on it.

I've tried everything I give her, not because I think I should but because I'm so nosey :haha:

good luck with your LO too x

When we switched from Aptamil to Hipp it took about two weeks for the poos to settle down. I just offered a little bit of cooled boiled water as suggested and it was fine. LO is so much better now on Hipp

well I gave her 1oz cooled boiled water (which was made last night but my OH put her to bed instead - seriously, are men all just idiots?) and she's poo'ed a much nicer poo (did I really just say that?) so I'm hoping we can get through these 2 weeks without her crying as much as yesterday :)

I do prefer the HIPP stuff so far, mainly because it doesn't smell half as disgusting as aptamil :D

:haha: I find myself talking about poo far too much. I'm not sure why it becomes ok when you have a baby!

Glad she is doing better. I'm picking up Hipp today. Fingers crossed!

I've switched recently from Aptamil to Hipp Organic LO was very very windy on Aptamil, i didn't just completely change though i did every other bottle with Hipp to start with until the Aptamil was all gone. He hasn't been constipated at all or really upset about the change, maybe you could try phasing in the new milk rather than a complete switch one day and see if it helps. :)

Three Hipp feeds in and we've had a poop (first in two days) and a lot less sick. DD seems to lovr it too. So far - for Hipp!
