I keep getting hoax calls from "microsoft" they say theres a problem with your computer etc etc. How do you go about reporting this sort of call?

I wouldnt have a clue but my Nans been getting them too xx

register your number with tps. It can take 30 days for it to become active though. If they call back then you can report them. Even though you are getting scam calls, this should get your number removed from the list and prevent the calls coming through.

i've had this one too, the caller got really shirty with me when i started questioning how they would know i had a problem with my pc

You can't unfortunately.
The TPS will only stop calls from the UK. If the calls are coming from overseas, there is not a lot you can do about it.
These people won't take you off their call list because they are trying to scam you out of money.
So far, I have found the best responses to be:-
"I don't own a computer"
"I own a Mac"
"Wow - you can even tell it has a fault even though it is turned off?"

They immediately know you are on to them and hang up.

TPS also sadly does not stop "research" calls.

I've had the microsoft one before. I just tell that I'm not an idiot and hang up.

My grandad got one and my mum just laughed down the phone left them spraffing for 10mins only to say there is no comp :haha:
