Hiya

Okay so I have gone back to work for 3 1/2 days a week (tue-fri) 30 hours. I used to work 5 days and do 37 hours. I get 5 weeks holiday (20 days) a year now I only work 4 days. I booked the first couple of fridays off to ease myself back into work and have booked a weeks holiday for sept for when we go away. Also last week I booked off this coming friday. I was told I can only book 5 fridays a year off (I am guessing the same as other days?). It confused me as when I was working 5 days I didnt HAVE to book 5 full weeks off I could book say a couple of full weeks and then say some long weekend so I am confused as to why now I work 4 days yet still get 5 weeks hol that I am only allowed to book 5 fridays.

This means now I only have 1 friday left to book (which I was going to use at xmas) I could only have 1 full weeks holiday this year. The other 14 days I have to book I will have to book part weeks and work the friday. My manager is really lovely so wasnt nasty about it. I just said oh I didnt realise I could only book 5 off.

Anyone else have the same thing with work? Its gutted me as it means I cant say book a friday off and have a long weekend as I am not allowed. :nope:

Yeah I can do that. Lol. Its just wierd :D If I want a week off I have to book tue-thurs off but then have to work the friday. Lol.

I have a party I may need to take lo to on a friday in aug but I may just see if I can do my 4 hours that day instead of a tues or work the monday instead of the fri depending what time the party is. That way I can still book a friday off over xmas so am off all over xmas :happydance:

xx

It's strange that they won't let you take the Fri if you're combining it with a whole week off! Do you have more work to do on a Friday? Where I work we prepare files for court after someone has plead not guilty and plea hearings are only on certain days so the next day we are more busy than other days in the week. Although they don't usually stop us booking them off.

I bet is it very annoying!! x

No I do the same job everyday and I am the only person who does my job so I dont have to be careful when I take my hols etc. It was just that because I have 5 weeks hol I can only have 5 fridays yet last year I still got 5 weeks holiday and was never told I could only have 5 fridays. Lol.

does it say anything about it in your contract...? i always thought your holiday was yours to take as you wish unless otherwise stated in your contract...?!

Omg that's mega weird, I agree with checking the contract about that one, strange you couldn't have a week off because you have to work the Friday

Agree. Your employer can't tell you when/if to take holiday (unless its in your contract specifically)

I have got my same contract for what I had since worked here. I havent had a new one. I havent noticed in it before about only booking certain days and nothing has been said before. I am so stuck on what to do because I get on with my manager and dnt wana cause awkward. Not sure of jst leave cpuple of wks and try book my days for xmas and say a full wk in nov. Its really bugging me as I jst dont get it! Lol.

That is strange :/ If you're not busier on Fridays, and are the only one doing your specific job... why is there a thing about Fridays. Doesn't make sense to me... Best asking to clarify I reckon hun x

Well i booked more hols and it inc 2 fridays and i havent been told i cant tale them they have been sigbed off! Yey. Lol. Xx
