I thought a nice and not too expensive way would be to make some nice presents for ppl...

Jars can either be reused from other thinks but lakeland sell them for £3 for 12 also and then can be filled with goodies

My first attempt which is normall yummy is going to be Nigellas CHilli jam. It looks pretty in the jar to.

WHat do other people do?

Little organza bags of chocolate coins, i bought the bags for our wedding one bay, and still have tonnes left over, so i just put 5 coins in each bag and use them as stocking presents. xx

Spicy nuts. Nigella Lawson has a good recipe.. they are YUM. Truffles if you're good at them (I'm rubbish :(), peppermint creams, mince pies of course :D you can buy tiny tart cases and put 3 or 4 in cellophane bags and tie with ribbon. Chutneys!

mmm omg i watched that nigella at xmas last year it was amazin! she makes it look so easy too.

the book is on offer in the book people i feel it could be a Nigella Christmas :D also keeps me amused whilst waiting for bump to srrive doing a shopping list today could be a long one :)

i've just made some apple sauce for in my hampers it was so easy to do and looks so pretty, also i'm going to do some home made mince pies and short bread.
I can't wait to see pictures of what you make xx

What about mini christmas puds or are they a little taste specific? or i was thinking mini christmas cakes...not sure how people would react to those

So far I have:

Christmas Chutney
CHilli Jam
Onion Marmalade
Orange marmalade
Oil infusion

I am thinking about the nuts and alos like the shortbread idea.. I want things that will last as not done this before so hoping they appreciated!

remember don't do a garlic infused oil as its easy to get botulism from it! :|

Chili oil is good.

ooh i wanted to do this, i was going to make lemon vodka but think i left it too late as im sure i read it has to be left for 6months?

x

I have a christmas limoncello type recipe that doesnt need to be left 6 months....its not lemon though :D

botluism ?

Whats that...chilli is the way forward then!

i could be wrong, maybe its 6 weeks? or maybe ive just made up the 6 bit haha

x

you may have done..maybe it lasts 6 months?!

Zest the lemons, and place zest into a large glass bottle or jar. Pour in vodka. Cover loosely and let infuse for one week at room temperature.
After one week, combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil. DO NOT STIR. Boil for 15 minutes. Allow syrup to cool to room temperature.
Stir vodka mixture into syrup. Strain into glass bottles, and seal each bottle with a cork. Let mixture age for 2 weeks at room temperature.
Place bottled liqueur into the freezer. When icy cold, serve in chilled vodka glasses or shot glasses.

its really nasty, makes you paralised and can kill you. Garlic and other plants and veggies create the toxin when they dont get oxygen or something  All I know is NO to garlic olive oil.

hi, i posted this on a similar thread but this is a great idea to put in an xmas hamper:
https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2920/christmas-muffin-mix

the person has to make it themselves that you give it to, but you layer up the ingredients in a jar and make look pretty. simple to make and people love that you write out how they make them themselves (easy for them to make, they just add milk and eggs and pour the mix in)

Aw thats adorable :D Would be fab to give a kid actually, you could substitute the fruit for chocolate chips or something.

that is a lvoely idea!

For one of my firends on the book people there is a book called the branded cook book and they want to cook more and like their brands so we have bought them the book for about a fiver and are going to choose a recipe or two and give them the 'brands' to amke them. as an alternative hamper idea

I have just posted my mince meat recipe which is good in a hamper
