I made my first batch of sweet potatoes today (made a lot more than I thought it would! ) but it looks wayyyy different in texture to the jar of sweet potatoes I bought for a quick baby taste test. I'm worried it might be too lumpy? But I pureed it with a handmixer as much as I could without it getting any smoother. Just wondering if there is a common texture difference between homemade and store bought. Thanks!

Hiya,
yeah there is a huge difference. The jar stuff is made with huge industrial/catering blenders. It is very very smooth in the jars, when i was doing stage 1 stuff, my purees were never ever like the jars.

as gumb69 said, textures are completely different xx

As above, did you put a bit of the cooking water in so it's not so thick? I did sweet potato yesterday but not tried it on Louis yet! x

I used my baby bullet to make sweet potatoe puree and it turned out very nice and smooth!

I baked the potatoes but did add some water. I am still playing with the idea of getting a baby bullet though.

I used a hand blender after boiling sweet potato and butternut squash together, added the water from the pan to help puree and it came out lovely and smooth, and it tastes yummy :)

I just started using the bullet but I'm really liking it so far! My brown rice cereal turned out lovely as well!
