my boyfriend and i have always known what we'd want to call our child if it were a girl. when we found out we were expecting this baby we definitely decided this would be the name if it turns out peach is a girl!

however, we don't actually like it because of the film, we do love the film, but it isn't in honour of it. we just love the name!

my question is... will other people think it's a bit sad? i know people of our generation may know of the association, but people of our child's age surely won't have seen the film or care about it!

i researched into the name and read that it's greek and means something like "ray of light" which only confirmed it in my mind as the name we definitely want if we have a girl..

ok the name - it's from WILLOW!

and the name is elora.

(elora danan was the beautiful little ginger baby princess)

I love it.

It dont matter where the name comes from, what matters is you love it.

No it won't matter! It's a beautiful name, only another Willow fanatic might spot it and then they can say "Oh that's the same as the princess in Willow, is that why you picked the name?" and you say "Oh, really, is it? No, it's not cos of that, we just think it;s a beautful name!"

thank you, that's what i think too. i'm only just beginning to question it because my brothers keep laughing at me and saying it's sad! they're probably just teasing, but it's starting to strike a nerve!! xx

haha yes i thought about just lying and pretending i didn't realise! me and the boyfriend both loved the film when we were kids, and then i watched it a few years ago for the first time since being a kid and that was when i first thought how beautiful the name was.

i thought it had all been a bit too easy when my boyfriend immediately agreed to it :haha: this seems to be the only catch! xx

I love it!! ignore the comments everyone thinks rosalie is a twilight baby lol but shes not and if she was id call her bella not rosalie like the huffy blonde! the way i see it twilight aint going to be huge in ten years time and shel still have the name i love xxx

Elora is a gorgeous name!!! I don't know the film so I can't comment on associations but if you love it, go for it! It's pretty and feminine, but strong, works on a tiny little baby girl as well as a grown woman.

Gorgeous name, I don't know the film but I'd stick to Elora anyway. Very pretty.

My friend has a daughter named Elora. Nobody thinks anything of it- it is a gorgeous name!
She gets called rory as a pet name, which I've always found really cute!

Great film!! Fab name, really girly and pretty.

I am all for filmy names, it is not really that it is in the film just that you heard it there first!
My dd is called Emmie and this was a name used in the 80's film Manaquin just spelt Emmy, and no one has ever said about it, just said what a lovely name, again we didnt use it because of any connection to the film just because i always remember the name form the film and always though it was lovely!

:hugs:

I think it is a lovely name and have liked it myself when I have watched Willow.
It shouldn't matter what others think ... you follow what you wanna do :-)

Hey honey,

I don't think it matters at all and it is a lovely name and imo quite unusual.

I only vaguely remember the film Willow, and think it matters even less because the film is quite an old one. Only avid Willow fans will even remember.

I say go for it!

I think it's lovely, and her name will have meaning, and a story behind it which will make it even more special for you and her x
