Hospital Appointments

Hi everyone

Have been waiting about 6 weeks to hear about the date for my laparoscopy. Understandably I'm a bit nervous as am convined I have endo. Anyway - even though I know I will be treated wihtin 4 months I thought I'd call today to push them along a bit. The lady was really nice and offered me an appointment on xmas eve which I can't do. She then said she would get me a date before beginning of Jan. Now she was really nice and I am grateful. But it led me to wonder how much longer I would have waited if I had not have phoned. It honestly didn't seem to be a problem to fit me in soon so why didn't they just write to me and stop me worrying?! Have I now taken the place of someboy who just didn't think to phone?! If I would have phoned earlier could I have had it done and dusted by now?! And why oh why do I ahve to keep badgering everyone to get a half decent service (those of you who I have spoken to before will know how hard I've had to push for any kind of treatment!!!)


Arghhhhh!


Oh well - at least I got somewhere - lady was very nice and all.

I had the same trouble with my hospital, the last two appointments I have had to phone and find out what was going on. Both times they had not booked me in! Im now waiting for another appointment and have not heard a thing, so im going to chase them up tomorrow. The staff are always friendly but I dont know what goes on when it comes to giving out appointments!!!

thats bad! glad u phoned and sorted it! i have an appointment on mon with my fs to discuss a lap & dye....hoping she will refer me asap.....im hoping it can be done sooner rather than later as i too am sure i have endo i thought they might give me a date there and then...will i have to wait then? xx

When I went to the fs they told me that they would operate within 4 months (I think - it was around that anyway). And before I could go on the waiting list I had to go in for a pre-op. It just takes them soooooo long to get round to doing anything. I think it prob depends a lot on where you are being treated too - some places are better than others. xxx

When I went to the fs they told me that they would operate within 4 months (I think - it was around that anyway). And before I could go on the waiting list I had to go in for a pre-op. It just takes them soooooo long to get round to doing anything. I think it prob depends a lot on where you are being treated too - some places are better than others. xxx

hi...what kind of pre-op?? yeah when i phoned my fs secretary i asked if there was a waiting list & she said we have a deadline for every patient, 18 weeks but try not to worry as it also depends on what u have had done etc....she looked at my details & said im sure we can get you in very soon & not wait too long...i hope she can!! im gonna be on that phone annoying them til they book me in quick lol!!! xx

hi...glad u hav ur app, but it takes 4ever, i read about this 18week wait...i hav had 4 fs apps frm march-oct, 1st was formality, 2nd tests4me +db sa, 3rd more tests, results frm us + another test for my db, 4th i got perscribed clomid, an my db got refered (4week wait) we went to male fs an again it was a formality, in 2weeks he has a sa test again, week later another sa test, then wait 8weeks to go 4the results which the app is beginin of feb...that is nearly a year of appointments what exactly is the 18wek wait 4? Feel like im startin all over again now with male fs so feel kike my app's hav just been a waste of time...grrr! Had a little rant now,but its now feb...we hav to wait to start talking about our options, but havin my app's + male fs wantin us both, its so hard keep asking for time off, esp when its like its been a waste of time what we already been threw. Good luck hope u get ur app's quicker+closer together than us...oh we even booked a holiday around our apps only for it to b cancelled by letter the weekend b4 it was due, an reshedualed for the week we was away...! Pain in the bum, but hopefully it will b all worth while...x

The pre-op appointment was an appointment where they take swabs etc to check you haven't gor mrsa and they check your weight etc. etc. x

Hiya - I've had an appointment reschedlued for when I was on holidaytoo! Most annoying as I had booked the my holiday around the original appointment - nightmare!
