Housing Benefit

I'm looking at renting a room off my sister.

It'd help us both...I need somewhere to live but worried about living on my own and my sister needs some extra money to pay her mortgage.

Can I claim housing benefit when the rent is going to my sister?

you cannot claim housing if you are renting from a family member or living with a family member in there house

my brother stayed with us and he was getting £40 a week in housing benefit - might have changed the rules since though coz it was 7 years ago
