Not sure if this is the correct place to put this but what is the housing costs where everyone lives?

Wyoming is roughly around 200,000 for a decent 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house.

Here in Aus, well atleast where I am in Aus the average is about 250,000 for a 3-4bedroom house with one bathroom.

im in a town house in teh centre of birmingham, 3 bed, 3 bathroom, 2 reception rooms. gardena and secure parking.

£185000

This is from the website Find a Property (which I think is pretty accurate, I believe the take their stats from recent sold prices on the land registry). This is for a 3 bedroomed house in the area of North West London I live (but likely to be one bathroom as mostly round here they are Victorian terraces):

3 Bed Houses £839,566
OP I just did an online currency conversion and that's $ 1,292,463.70

Ouchy!

Surely you mean average cost of a 3bed in uk is about £139,566 not £839,566!!!:flower:

In my postcode, not in the UK!!!!!!!!! Will edit the post to say London, sorry!

^and I also should have put that this cost is the reason why we don't own a house before anyone thinks I'm rich!

We have a 3 bed, 1 bath semi in bedfordshire which is worth around 200k x

Houses in my area, Bexley are around £200,000-500,000 for a decent 3 bed house.
Its ridiculous tbh. We rent because we cant get the 20% deposit together to get a mortgage and our rent is over £1000 per month

Ontario Canada

Average Rents:
The average monthly rent for a two-bedroom apartment is $752. The average monthly rent for a three-bedroom apartment is $851

Home Purchase Prices:
The average house price is $213,032. This price is based on a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home.

Haha I live in Bexley in Australia!!

Where in Australia do you live?! Coz in Sydney south it's like $650, 000- $700, 000 for a 3 br 1 bt. At least, according to the Domain [which I read :haha: even though I'm not buying a house for a while].

But where I want to move in the Illawarra, as long as you don't buy a house right on the waterfront [some are over $1 mil! :(] then the house are a wee bit cheaper than Sydney. Maybe like $600, 000- $650, 000 for the same size.

But it varies so much here. That's what annoys me. A brick house is worth so much more. A waterfront house is worth so much more. A 1800s-1900s house is worth soooo much more [what I want!] so yeah. You could get the same size house for $500, 000 if it was a fibro shack.

I've read recently that Australia has the highest house prices vs income in the world. Great news for us.

It's about 250k - 300k for an okay 2/3 bedroom home where I live.

To rent a two bedroom apartment is approximately $1,200-$1,500/month.

Kodiak has the most expensive rent in the state of Alaska and the third most expensive housing market. We have the largest Coast Guard base in the U.S. here, and the military gets about a $1300-$1500 stipend per single young guy to rent an apartment, which is why are rents are so jacked here. It's impossible for the locals to make it :( The Coast Guard families come here on 4-year stints and buy a house then turn around and sell it when they leave to make a profit too :( The price goes up..and up..and up...

My OH and I are convinced that every person on this island who owns a home sells drugs as as side business.

Oh wow. I'm in the Detroit, MI area and we had a major major housing bust. You can seriously buy a 3 Bed, 1.5 Bath house for $40,000 if you don't mind putting some work into it. If you don't want to put any work into the house you can get away with $75,000 easy. There are some areas that are still in the $200,000 range but it's nowhere near the majority. Renting a 3 bed house will cost roughly $1,000 a month though. Not a lot of people qualify for mortgages around here so you're stuck paying an outrageous rent when a mortgage payment would only be $400 a month.

In the town where I live you'd be hard pressed to find anything at all for less than $250,000, and of course significantly more if you want waterfront (or even ocean views lol). Average cost for 3 bed/2 bath house is probably nearer $400,000.

To rent a 2-3bedroom house here costs $300-500/week. (though I've seen them go for a lot more!). We rent a very small 2 bed unit for $180/week.

Farmington Hills. LOVE my house. I have to say it was such a good deal. The prior owners were looking to rent it out so it was in tip top shape. Granite countertops in kitchen, fully equipped with new stainless steel appliances, even the washer/dryer are new and were left behind. Beautiful flooring, fresh neutral paint throughout. Literally move in ready. Thats all we did is just have it cleaned (though Im sure the previous owners had it cleaned after they moved out - it was impeccable) & moved right in.

Farmington Hills is such a nice community. That area didn't get hit anywhere near as hard as by me in eastern Macomb County. My mother's house appraised for $140,000 before the bust and is only appraising for about $45,000 now and it's in impeccable condition.

Yes it is a nice community. The neighborhood is very clean and pretty. It actually did get hit by the market though. Our house was appraised for $235 this year (we did pay over the amount because we saw great value in it) but a few years ago it appraised for $430! The whole area including West Bloomfield and Bloomfield Hills got hit pretty bad. Not Birmingham though. For some reason the homes in Birmingham have retained their value in comparison.
