Housing Costs

Ouch! Scratch that earlier comment!

But it was good for us at least. Both moving out of our parents houses & getting married, buying a house for the first time. We would not have been able to afford this house a few years ago thats for sure.

True. I'm hoping I can start making enough to catch up on debt and build up a security deposit. I would love to be able to afford something in Royal Oak.

Royal oak is a very happening town. I've rented 2 different places in royal oak, and one in Berkley. It's a good area because you have everything around you. I would warn against buying there though because the homes, though nice, are ancient.

In the area we're in the street we're on its £90,000-99,000 for a 2/3 bed terrace on a small side street. The houses on the main road are front and back gardened and 3-4 bedroom and go for around £110,000-140,000.

Rent wise I pay £375 a month but the houses can rent for around £390-450
