Yesterday we got a ultrasound and the man at first seemed he wasn't to sure but after a few good shots of the baby he said its a boy! I've heard at this early on in the pregnancy (14 weeks 4 days) that the babies private parts look ALOT alike. I posted the picture below, in your experience has any had a false "it's a boy"? I'm curious to see what you all think.

I would think It'd be fairly accurate Hun, as the babies 'bits' are developed by 12weeks but too small ( possibly) to see on a scan, but I would've thought by almost 15 weeks they stand a good chance of making them out after all most places say 16 weeks and you're not that far off.

I had a 4d done at 12 weeks, and he sonographer was adamant we're having a boy. I was a tad gutted as didnt wat to know, but I'm really hoping it was too early and she was wrong so we still stand a chance of surprise.

Baby certainly looks like a boy from your pic Hun. Xxx

Pretty accurate really as boy parts are quite prominent at that stage. Plus in your scan certainly looks like one! Congrats on you both on your boys!

The MFM told us if they had clear shots they could tell us at 14 weeks. They ended up not being clear but still told probably two boys which is what they are.

Looks like a boy to me :)

Baby's genitals are actually the exact same until the 13 week. They all have a genital ridge or nub and in the 13th week if testosterone is realeased from a Y chromosome baby's genital turn male , if no testosterone then they turn female .

Earliest you can tell is usually 14 week, anything before that is a guess .

I am no good at telling from scans but my cousin booked a private scan for when she was 11 weeks and was told then that she was having boy #3. He is now 16 months old.

I don't know how accurate they are, just that they can be very accurate.

I'd say that looks like a boy but I probably wouldn't buy anything blue just yet because I've done lots of googling on this and a lot of people say that girly bits can be really swollen and therefore look like a boy when it is in fact a girl. I came across a post actually of someone who was told a boy at 16 weeks and then a girl at 20 weeks - https://community.babycenter.com/albums/jadenlove/. She posted pics of the potty shot from both 16 and 20 weeks and it was amazing because the 16 week potty shot looked just like my son's did at 16 weeks and that definitely looked all boy x

Looking at the 16 week and 20 week, I could definitely tell they were both girls. How the ultrasound tech messed it up I dont know. It is very clear.

I have heard early scans being wrong many times, however this scan certainly looks like a boy!

This should probably help: https://www.baby2see.com/gender/external_genitals.html

I'd say based upon this website that your scan would be pretty accurate :)

I had a private gender scan at exactly 16 weeks and 4 dash and was told it was definately a girl

I've already got a little boy and had convinced myself I was having another boy so I couldn't believe it ! I made her check 3 times in total and she seemed sure

I really hope she was right as I've told everyone and brought so much pink it's a joke ekkkkk

I am a little nervous for my 20 week scan now and praying they say girl too! Xx

Very accurate. Both my girls I found out at 12 weeks! This one we found out at 10 through a genetic test
