I Just want a registery office wedding & hire a room & have a buffet for the after party etc.

But how much does everything cost? how cheap can i do it?

how much does the marridge licence etc cost?

xx

Hi hun if you look on your local councils website it should have the prices in there for the registry office.

Ours is costing £67 to give notice of our intention to wed and as its on a Saturday its costing £120 on the day for the actual ceremony.

to hire a hall would be quite cheap depending on where you use. Food and drink again would be cheap especially if you use a wholesaler for your wine etc.

We are using a function room in a pub not far from us and they do the catering at £5 per head. So for us the food is our biggest expense as we plan on inviting 100 people to the evening reception.x

Thankyou :) Glad i'm not the only 1 doing it cheaply :)
I'm not one for big meals & OH loves buffets, so its chosen its self!

I'm not 'Technically' engaged yet though...

Yeah we only have 5 months to arrange it all and not enough funds to go for a big wedding so everything is being done on a tight budget.

We could'n't afford a sit down meal as well as evening reception so we instead of asking for wedding gifts we just want close family and friends to join us for a meal and basically pay for their own meals. (the place we are getting married is part of a huge company and so their meals are decent prices). Saves them having to wait the 4 hours inbetween twiddling their thumbs lol.

Lol at you not engaged yet do you think he will pop the question soon? Or are you thinking of asking him ;) x

We are doing ours on a budget, and eloping to gretna green! (with our daughter, lol)

Been some low, lovely budget weddings on Four Weddings.. do you watch that? :)

We've talked about it ALOT but he doesn't want us to be 'engaged' till he gets a ring & i'm trying to convince him it cant cost that much  but i know we will be married sometime in the near future! mainly because i want the same last name as josh

Nooo, don't watch it, is it good? x

Under £1,000 easily if you plan well ahead and spend wisely!!

Awww I don't think the cost of a ring matters df bought me a cheapish ring and I loved the senitment more then anything. The stone came lose after I knocked it though she he bought me a replacement one for my birthday which I love even more. Again really cheap too but I aren't a materialistic girl as long as it looks nice then who cares about the price :D x

P.s I watch Four weddings and its soooo good!

i'm don't really care about the price either, i've been looking at the £49.99 rings off argos :) x

I'd recommend having it in someone's garden if you want to do it really cheaply. Cover the garden and house in fairy lights, paper lanterns, candles in cleaned out jars etc and you could make it really beautiful without going crazy.

this is a utterly brilliant idea, sadly wouldn;t have the parking at my MIL's house, and my OH's grandparents are too old. thier house and garden is huge, they have acres

We're arranged ours in about 6 weeks
Registry and a tea time buffet and supper after for those who want to stay and pay for themselves

The registry was $180 and the buffet will be about $250 and the meal is $75 per head (me , dh2b and couple of friends we want to pay for)
Plus our over night accom after the meal $185 (our choice)
My engagement ring doubles as a wedding ring and DF's mum is buying his ring I think and I bought my dress a while ago

So not including the honeymoon trip about $1100 by the time I've bought flowers and shoes and DF a new shirt and trousers)

Which is about 600 GBP ish

wish could have a £600 wedding here don't think its possible these days i am trying to save and hoping to have a budget of about £4,000 but surely you shouldn't need that much hun x

We did plan one in the UK and it came in at about £1000 just never got round to doing it  emigrating got in the way!

that's a shame hun, how did you manage £1,000 wedding if you don't mind me asking, want to have a cheap wedding as can't really afford anything else, but i set a max budget of £4,000 but will take me ages to save it, the cheaper the wedding the sooner we can get hitched.

We booked a very small church (about £300 all in) and decided on a small very local pub for the reception, only about 12 people (£600) and drinks were not included.
As with this wedding, flowers were limited to a posy for me and nothing else. Invites I
made. My dress is from Monsoon and DF is choosing chinos and a nice shirt.

If additional people want to come to the reception we ask them to pay for their own meal - we didn't want wedding gifts so in our minds this was fair - having them there was the gift for us.

We are doing ares on the cheap the venue is £400 thats for the wedding room the meal after and food but get 25% off food as we are having it on a sun then the Registry fees are £330 then it is just my dress pants and white top for the boys/men not having suits as we dont like them and the cars and pohot person it is all coming to about £2000

Just to say about the ring situation i chose my engagment ring and it was about £350 in the shops so i looked on ebay the exact same ring for £27 starting bid or buy it now for £190 i think it was so i bidded when it still had a week to go and won! no one else bidded lol altogether with postage it cost £32 and came in a lovely velvet box!

I had it checked by the gold shop and they said its real and i got what i was told i would get! We are going to be doing the dame thing for our wedding rings! x

lol thats brilliant, my OH got my ring out of argos seen a few i liked gave him the details and told him there was a half price sale on so got lovely ring half the usual price was great :D not sure about wedding rings but might try to catch them on argos half price sale lol.... asda do a wedding range now so thats good some stuff is lovely, tesco you can get wedding rings and engagement rings on there too.... ebay can be good but sometimes you don't always get what you bargined for.
