Before we start I know ultrasounds genders are not 100% guaranteed, so please dont say that. Im curious as to how common is it to be wrong, and what gender they commonly get wrong. Was anyone told one thing only to find out another?can you trust their gender at 19weeks 6 days? It should be prety clear by then correct!

My mom did ultrasounds for over 20 years and was wrong 2 times. With that being said I just had a girlfriend in the last 3 years have 2 children one boy, one girl and both ultrasounds were wrong for her...I think it depends on how much experience your tech has. I had an ultrasound at 14 weeks 4 days and the tech and my mom said boy, and at 19 weeks it was confirmed boy.

I never saw the parts on the screen nor did I verify how certain she was, stupid I know. But the fact in 45 min she never changed her decision and kept calling him a noy for the remainder of the scan, is that a trusting sign? Only reason im apprehensive is because she said I think I see boy parts, but it wasnt a unsure I think but more of a tone like "I agree with everyonesguess and matter of factly" I think if that makes sence. I just feel if she was unsure she would say I think I see boy parts but im not certain or something like that. Does my ramble make sence?

Ther are more often wrong when it comes to saying its a girl than a boy.

My sister and I were pregnant together and I was told once I was having a girl and I did.
She was told 4 times oh looks like a girl ( high risk pregnancy) and she delivered a boy.

And this year my friend who had 4 boys was expecting her first girl. Yep. It came out a boy.

Also I was told at 16 weeks boy.
I go for another scan on Tuesday. I will let you know it they were right it wrong. Lol

I'm not sure how common . The earlier its done the more margin there is for error. Also if your heavier Nd the picture isn't as clear that can contribute .

We had a nieghbor for years they had 3 kids , they were told 3 times they were having a girl and had 3 boys .

They also told a friend of mines he was having a boy at her 18 week scan and he came out a she . It was the umbilical cord .

I would want to see it for myself and wouldn't believe anything done before 18 weeks to be sure

I know 2 people who at my local hospital at 20 wk scan were told girl and at a later scan turns out theu were having boys.

Xx

I think any scan ober 18 weeks would be correct . Like the other ladies said they more likely get it wrong if babys a boy and they say girl due to swollen parts . I'm having an nhs scan at 19 weeks and 4 days and a private gender and well being 4 d scan at 26 weeks. Xx

it does happen quite commonly ive been very lucky with my scan as she had her feet around her head and the tech was very thorough so if there had been any boy parts they would of definatly been spotted but in experience some are alot more thorough than others x

Depends partially on how early you are. My doctor told me the 16-week ultrasounds are only about 80% accurate with regards to sex, because things can be swollen, or something like that. 20 weeks, I'm sure, are more accurate.

I was told "girl" at my 20 week ultrasound and the sonographer said she was sure. At 22 weeks I had another ultrasound for neurotic purposes (unrelated to gender) and the doctor confirmed.

I was given the right sex with my daughter and son... Both identified at 20 week scan.
4d scans are more likely to be correct so if you want that extra bit of reassurance then it may be worth investing in one of them... I had one with my son and he loved showing his bits off lol.
This time I'm on team yellow so don't need to worry but I wish you luck xx

My doctor isn't letting me have my ”gender” u/s until I'm 22 wks because he says it's easier to tell than at 20, plus he says many women may not measure 20 wks at a 20 wk u/s anyway.

Makes sense, although it kills me to have to wait that long!

At 19+6 I was told a boy - no doubt, I seen it myself on the scan (it was me who shouted out its a boy!)

At 20+6 I had a follow up scan, it was a different person doing the scan and at the end she asked if I knew, I said I did and she said a girl. I said last week I was told he was a boy, she went to get someone else to check and turns out was a boy.

Just shows though if I hadn't had a scan the week before I would have thought I was having a girl xx

Its interesting to read others experiences! I sure hope my screening is correct

if you go for a 3d ultrasound in the 3rd tri they can always confirm it

There's no mistaking those
