Hi ladies.
I have my 20 week scan soon and was just wondering is it very common to be put back a few days or forward a few days or whatever ? Have any of you experienced this?
Thanks :)

they never change your date once you have had your dating scan, your date they gave you then will be your EDD all way through, no matter what they sizes or the baby are :) as they all grow at diff rates now x (thats my hospital at least) x

Your 12wk scan is your dating scan. They don't re-date you at your 20wk one, this is your anomoly scan where they take measurements all over the babies body, check the heart and kidneys etc and generally look for any signs of abnormality.

I agree, it is only really accurate to date a pregnancy up to 14 weeks using the Crown to Rump (CRL) measurement. After that you just have a baby that big/small for dates.

oh right, I could of sworn i heard that you could be put back a day or two or maybe a day or two forward, I think i may be loosing my mind lol! Thanks ladies xx

just on you 12 weeks :) i measured small on my 12 weeks and but me back 2 days, on my 20 weeks i measured over a weeks more then what i was but they never changed the dates x x x

ahh right so its just how big the baby is then ? never put u a week in front if babys measuring a week bigger etc? xx

no they stayed the same date as they gave me when he measured small at 12 weeks, i do have a growth scan 16 nov, they reckon he will come early .. bt still never changed the dating scan date even tho he measured large x

hey i have been changed a coupe of times.. giove or take tho only a couple of days.. i was put forward today by 2 days and the sonographer said as long as it is not over a week either way then its fine... but said it all depends on when u ovulated aswell..xx

oh right i see :) thanks for that hun x

Its very common hun sometimes babies just do a little catching up after the 20 week mark xx

I'm from Canada & we do not have 12 week dating scans here. On my pregnancy chart, up untill my 20 week scan my due date was given as a week long range (this was going off my LMP which i was very sure of the date), THEN at my 20 week scan they said "baby is measuring 20 weeks 0 days exactly, so your exact EDD is December 25" (which i knew all along, hehe).

But yeah. Done quiteeee a bit differently over here :) I didn't even get to see bubs untill 20 weeks and that is pretty standard unless your high risk

I didn't have a 12 week scan with my daughter (in the US, its not usually routine.) I had an ultrasound at 20 weeks and they did move her due date back 6 days, and she ended up being born on the day the scan predicted.

I have had 2 ultrasounds so far with this pregnancy, but no measurements/dating have been done. We are going by when I ovulated. It doesn't matter to me either way, since its really a 4-5 week range that is "full term." No need to get my hopes set on any particular day.

At your twelve week scan they will only chnage your date if it differs by more than a week bigger/smaller. My baby measured 2days smaller on both scans. By twenty weeks babies are growing at diferent, non textbook rates..lol and are beginning to take on mum and dads hereditory dispositions ie tall/short etc...x x x xDont get hung up on scans..mine have always measured small and were born at lbs 7lbs and 6.6lbs all early babies!!!x x x x

ive never heard of anyone being put forward or back after the 12 week dating scan.

thanks for all your replies ladies this has helped alot, I will let you all know how i get on next monday, Thanks again :) x
