My LO is just over 3 months, and when she gets the occasional bottle of expressed milk, she uses the beginner slow flow bottle nipple. How do I know when she is ready for medium flow? Will she get frustrated when she is trying to drink from the bottle and what does that look like?

yeah the usual signs are frustrated with the bottle pushing it away, youll also be able to hear her really going for it with the sucking iykwim, she may also cry during the feed hun.

I changed to medium flow when LO was about 8 weeks. I'd noticed he was sucking for ages and Only getting 1 oz or so and then thrashing about for ages and not drinking more than 3oz. He seemed like he was getting bored. I swapped to med flow and straight away upped his feeds from 4oz to 5oz as he was drinking so much more and more quickly.

I've heard you have to be careful upping the flow if you're BFing still since if you make the bottle too easy to drink from they may prefer it.
So I wouldn't increase the flow unless they're really showing signs they're ready.

My guy still downs his bottles super fast, lol.. must have a strong suck which explains why BFing still hurts for me sometimes :haha:

I've heard to switch to a faster flow when they collapse the nipple of the size they're currently using.
