Adidas tracksuit thing for my baby, apparently she has seen one and she says its really nice and when she finds out if our baby is a boy or girl (tomorrow) she will get either a blue or pink one. Seriously, I have no desire to put my baby in one, I know some people will disagree with me but I just think they look a bit chavvy. We are really close and so I dont want to hurt her feelings though so how do I do this?????

I would just be honest if your that close then she shouldnt mind. Just say u dont want to sound ungrateful but you dont really like tracksuits on babys but thanks for the thought anyway! x

Oh I understand this. My husband's mate (who were are going to ask to be Bambam's godfather) has already been telling me about the Addidas trainers he's going to buy when he's born, and I just don't want my little baby in trainers until he's older! I want him to look like a baby, not a little man!

Find a tracksuit that you like, you can probably get one without all the stripes and stuff that looks like a regular baby gro or close to it. Ask here for that one instead, say something like "oh, I saw the addidas one online and it is kind of cute, but I actually think the **** one is nicer......" at least then she knows your preference. Last resort, thank her and never put your baby in it.
If you are close to her you could just say that its a lovely gesture and you appreciate it but you don't really like them.
Good luck:)

My cousin gave me a pink adidas tracksuit for our baby girl, and a little pair of trainers, and honestly, they are the cutest! I dont like a lot of things like that because of the chaviness associated with them too, but love this one. If you dont want to hurt her feelings then just let her get it, and then dont put the baby in it, if she asks where it is or why not just say baby had it on the other day :)

i always thought this - and i LOVE Laurens tracksuit top now cos if shes in the garden it keeps her warm and doesnt really matter if she gets stuff on it!

I understand totally! I dont think i would want my baby in track suits either, especially if its a girl.

I think maybe either say a polite thankyou for the offer but you dont really want to put baby in tracksuits until he/she is older. (I know you probably wouldnt ever in bubs whole life but it sounds a bit kinder) and maybe suggest something a bit more suitable for a gift.

Or accept it and just put it away never to be worn unless friend comes to visit, or maybe take a photo of baby wearing the tracksuit and give the photo to her as a gift so she knows he/she wore it.

I think we are all going to get at least one gift that we dont really like, thats why i tend to ask people nowadays what kind of clothes they would like before buying for a baby.

Nah i wouldnt want mine in anything like that. I remember when other half came home with addidas trainers when my son was like 3 months old! eww. And oh sister wanted him in celtic gear and tracksuits but she never bought them lucky enough she was always broke. Just say no to it, no point on messing about.

I totally understand this. I would say I really appreciate you thinking of something specific but would it be possible to give us vouchers to allow us to get what we would like to dress the baby in?

Lots of people were very receptive when we asked for vouchers xx Good Luck :)

I totally understand why you wouldn't want one

I think Winnie The Pooh stuff is tacky so i told everyone not to get it for me as simply, Leni wouldn't wear it.

You just got to be completely honest hun. I know people aren't as blunt as me, but when you are pregnant/have LO you got to be straight with people xx

I am sick of that dam bear he is on everything! I avoided stuff with winni on it but a few had got outfits but its not as bad as addidas track suit.

I got one Winni the Pooh outfit, you can barely tell, it is just a shirt with combat type trousers. Other than that no way, can;t stand the stuff.

I have an England tracksuit for my son, which is the ultimate in chav wear. It is so cute I can't wait to put it on him though!!

My opinion is your friend should be able to buy your child what she likes. It is her gift and I actually think it is a bit ungrateful when you start telling people what they can and can't buy. If someone said that to me I'd be like "f*ck you then!"

Just because she is a girl doesn't mean she is going to be in pretty dresses 24/7. Especially when she is crawling around in the garden getting messy. Boys will generally live in tracksuit style clothes. You might like the idea of a chavy looking tracksuit that she can wear to get all messy and dirty (just ask her to buy it for 6 months + lol!!

Just a point, it might be a really horrid tracksuit, in which case fair enough, but it also might be really nice. I don't like Nike trainers etc for little kids, but knowing me, I'll be getting him a pair of Adidas Shell toes as soon as he is big enough to wear them :D

Kids go through so many clothes so quickly, be grateful for everything you get. If you don't like it take it back ;)

im not a fan of the Whinne the pooh stuff only because I feel on the baby stuff you are 'supposed' to like it

I love the lil bear on the basic Gap stuff has anyone seen that?

I completely understand!

My father in law said that he can’t wait to get my baby into his its first FOOTBALL KIT!! YUK, :dohh:
Bless him really it’s quite sweet, it’s just not going to happen sorry lol :haha:

Just another point - Sorry here lol!!

For my nieces 2nd birthday I bought her a replica Crystal Palace football kit and some nike trainers. I didn't ask my sister and her dad is a bloody Tottenham fan!! But she wore it loads for nursery and running around it. It also did look super cute :) I'd have been gutted if my sister said no I can't buy her that, cos I can buy her what I want :)

cant you think of something else you would like and then say hey i know you wanted to buy that tracksuit but i could really do with *insert item of equal value here * it would be more of a help if you got me that instead please.

totally agree! Before Thomas was born all the male members of the family (apart from Hubby) wanted to buy him a football shirt for their team (they all support different teams!) but we are soooo NOT into football so we made it clear that Thomas wouldn't be wearing any football shirts! lol

Don't apologise its great to get as many opinions as I can, I knwo I may feel different when the baby is born (dont know if its a boy or girl yet) but that's just not my sort of style really so I can't imagine dressing my baby in it, its hideous.
