So I'm a bit of a "daddy's girl" and I would love to give our child a name that honors my dad in a way. His favorite thing in the world is cars, particularly Shelby Cobras and Mustangs. I actually really love the name Shelby for a girl! Only issue is that our last name is "Lilly," so I'm worried that "Shelby Lilly" would be a little bit too rhyme-y. The flow sounds better with the middle name added (named after someone very important in our lives) "Shelby Kathleen Lilly," but of course the middle name isn't often used. What do ya'll think? Could "Shelby Lilly" work, or scrap it and start over?
Thanks!! :flower:

Hmm. I think it could def work, but is a bit rhymey. It's really up to you and how much you love the name. I know someone with a name like Hailey Lee so it's up to you!

thanks for your input!
*bumping to see if anyone else wants to offer their opinion?

Could you use shelby as the Middle name? it's a lovely name, but I think it is a bit 'flowery' with surname - but it's far from terrible! X

I actually really like the name Shelby, Think it is quite rhythm-y but sounds lovely together. x

I think Shelby Lilly sounds fine! I started a thread a while back asking if the name Lily goes with my surname which is S.....ley so it's basically the same as your name dilemma but the other way around - and everyone said yes it sounds nice and flows well. I was the only one worried about the rhyme aspect :)

I think it's a lovely name! Really flows well altogether :) very pretty. X

Thanks, everyone! Good suggestions about trying Shelby as a middle name or hyphenating... And now I'm also less concerned about the rhyming aspect. Thanks for helping me feel better about it, I really love the name! :flower:

There was a Shelly Lilly at my school when I was a kid, we all called her Shelly-L and it was cute (there were 2 Shelly's and 3 Michelle's in my class)! Shelby Lilly sounds fine to me. How often are people saying first and last names together anyway?
