How do you afford rent bills food etc alone?

You will get tax credits and child benefit also

You can get childcare costs covered when you go back to work and working tax credits on top of that

on the rent side of things, you might not get the full amount of rent from housing benefit until the baby is born, but it shouldnt be far off, depends on the amount of the rent and amount of bedrooms in use

My IS is the only income I've got at the moment, and I can just about get by on it. I get all my rent and council tax paid for a 2 bedroom house. Have you spoke to your council about how much they can give you? Moving out of my mums was a god send for me, was driving me nuts so I know how you feel!

Once babys here it will be easier because like Emma said you will have child benefit and tax credits too

yeh like the others said u'll get more, think its about 148 ish a week ull get once babies here. And you should get all rent and council tax dependng on your council, they have amount limits so you need to find a flat within their limit so that its fully covered. For example.. my areas limit for mum AND a baby alone is 500 a month 2 bed flat, but only 390 for just mum, So if i moved out now into a flat costing 500 a month id only get 390 till babies born... if you understand that. And if i got a flat costing 550 then i would have to always pay the extra 50 even when babies here.

Im going to phone up housing benefit tomorrow and ask how much Il get if I have a tenancy alone now and once baby is here. I heard aswell they can start a housing benefit claim upto 13 weeks before you actually move so that worth knowing so the claim might go through a bit quicker but I wouldnt want it to mess up my housing benefit claim for the tenancy im in now. I know il prob be better off waiting til baby is month old or so, I will have saved up more money but I just want to get something sorted now, feel less stressed.
