How do you burp LO?

Over the shoulder? (I love how she tries to eat my shoulder in this position! )

Or sitting up on your lap?

Just curious what everyone prefers. I do a bit of both, but we seem to go for the shoulder more often.

i start with him on my lap, but if hes struggling or taking ages i put him on my shoulder, but i know he will ALWAYS puke down my back or in my hair if i do it like that. Damn reflux X

Aww that sucks! Mine doesn't seem to spit up hardly at all..only if she's super greedy and gulps too much.

I always did it on my knee, she was a really sicky baby, so over the shoulder wasn't an option!

both, plus lying him on his front and then rubbing his back brings up loads of wind. my hubby has the technique of lying his tummy across his arm and holding his head in his hand, (so his bum is in his elbow crease) and then rubbing his back.. he likes this, (calls its the koala) as he doesn't feel like he's going to hurt him, he always felt to heavy handed with the sitting on the lap technique.

On my lap for the most part, but if it's taking a long time, I'll do both. She spits up a lot though, so I prefer to do it on my lap.

Mostly sitting on my lap - she has reflux so it's easier not to get covered in sick that way! If she isn't getting any wind up, I try her on my shoulder but she usually just twists her head about and ends up eyeball to eyeball with me, which is sooo cute! If she is really really bad I lie her over my legs and rub her back.

i start with on the lap to get the big burp then put her over my shoulder to relax her and to try and get more wind (she holds onto it for hours otherwise) this is better sometimes and she gets a bit squirmy on my lap if she has a nasty bit trapped. xxx

used to do it over my sholder when he was tiny,. but now he's a big boy its eaisier him sitting up!

I do both, but I voted over the shoulder because I do that more. Although in the beginning months I would sit him on my lap and burp him like that, just because it'd be much easier. Nowadays he's gotten to the age where he can burp quite easily and I just put him on my shoulder and he burps in a few seconds!
