my 3 year old . keeps asking us how the new baby will come out of mummys tummy!

she is convinced the baby is going to some up my throat and out of my mouth!!!::dohh: if only it was that easy!!!

we have told her that she come out of mummys minnie (our word for front bum!) robyn come out of mummys tummy (c-section) and she just thinks thats hilarious! shes like noooo silly mummy the baby comes out of your mouth durrrrr!!!

we dont want to say the stork brings the baby or anything like that but how do you explain it in a way a 3 year old understands? shes VERY inquisitive and asks about a million questions a day!!

Out of your mouth he he thats fab lol. Benn was convinced Ellie was coming out of my belly button so i left it at that lol.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:
sorry. Thats just so cute and funny..

I really dont know what to say though.. guess I will read other replies because Colton will be 3.5-4 (at least) when we have our second eek!

There's a fantastic book aimed at young kids called Where Do I Come From? Which explores the topic in a non threatening way. You can get it here https://www.amazon.co.uk/Where-Did-...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1237223753&sr=8-1

I saw a link somewhere on here about explaining childbirth/siblings to children, dont know how good it will be as i havent watched it through, although i did watch a couple of the clips! Will see if i can find it.....

Ok, seems its more about pregnancy and also dont really know what age its ages at.

My sister has just turned 4 and she kept asking too. I just said out of my pippy (that's what we call our lady bum)lol. And she looked at me like, "What did you just say" her face went blank ha ha. She kept saying when is lexie coming out of your pippy.

it is cute! i love the way she say nooo mummy the baby comes up your belly (while drawing a line up my tummy to my throat then my mouth) then up your boobies then out of your mouth!!

when i told her she come out of mummys minnie she said no didnt, i would get very squashed! :dohh:

i tried to explain again lastnight that babies come out of ladies minnies and she just laughs, i said to OH im probably going to put her of having kids for life

i will have a look at that book marley, ill see if they have it in the library tomorrow...

thanks everyone, i think i will just have to say to her next time, ask daddy where babies come from

 at least you didn't get "But what do you have to DO to get a baby in your belly?!" Courtesy of my 7 year old BOY cousin. I told him to ask his dad too

You could get some books. I have a few. One is called "Welcome with Love", which is a homebirth childs book explained in the eyes of the younger brother. There is another one called "Baby on Board" which is also explained in the younger sister's eyes and its about her mom being pregnant.

thanks jenn, ive been looking around for some books so will add this one to my list...:hugs:

and can i just say your little boy is like your twin!!! hes like your little mini me:rofl: hes fab!

I thin k it's far less embarrassing explaining to a 3 year old than it may be explaining to an older child:rofl:

Mine have seen chilbirth on pregnancy programmes and know exactly where the baby usually comes out....also know that on occasion they can't come out that way and Dr's cut the tummy open so baby can be born safely.

In fact my hubby showed our 4 and 6 year olds the video of Erin's birth...they loved it and keep asking to see it again:dohh:

Whatever you do....don't lie:hugs:
