Hi Ladies,

I'm just curious how so many people seem to find out their HCG levels so often? I would love to know mine weekly or something but it doesn't seem like that is standard.

Thanks ladies.

i was also wondering this, i didnt think it was usual for a DR to even check those levels..? then again i've only been in once for a dating ultra sound and thats all they did that appointment?

I was under the impression that the ladies in the US were told them at their appointments? I've never had mine divulged to me, and I don't think it's normal to do so in the UK

I only did because I was going through a fertility clinic, and as part of the follow-up to getting your bfp, they monitor your levels to make sure they are rising accordingly. Once they feel that your levels are rising nicely I stopped getting them tested (I found it WAY too stressful anyway). And then they'll do a 6 week ultrasound, and then a follow-up prob. at 8 (depends) and then another at 12.

I don't know what the other ladies situations were, but this was mine.
For my friends who didn't need fertility treatment, they never had their levels checked either.

Hope that helps understand a little.

I had a very early scan yesterday and they took bloods which showed my HCG was 9000 at 5 weeks and 2 days... but I don't know how you know what is 'normal' :o

I am the same as ladybug1.... I was seeing a fertility specialist to get pregnant so once I got my BFP, my doctor has had me coming in once a week to check the hcg levels. I think it just depends on your situation.

same here. I see a FS. ;) Otherwise if you don't see a specialist, you wouldn't find out your hcg levels.

I had mine checked at 6+5 as I was getting bad cramping an they wanted to see of they were over 1000 so they could carry out an ultrasound and see something. Mine were 93570 so it was fine xxx

I had to ask to get mine done, and they told me. But at my 8 week scan they did a blood draw and never heard anything - they said I wouldn't unless there was a problem.

Ok. So I guess that is why I don't find mine out. They checked mine once to confirm pregnancy but that was all. Thanks for all the answers! :)

As everyone else has said, they only do it so much if you are undergoing fertility treatments or have a history of multiple miscarriages. There is just no need in most pregnancies, as the range of normal is so drastic, it really just winds up worrying you.

I was having light spotting, and I had a bout of cramps (for less than ten minutes though), so my doctor has been doing them weekly. I wish that I didn't need to get the tests done:( I"m already worried because I get my results tomorrow. Please say a prayer for me! Thanks.

:hugs:
