I like to use HealthGrades.com. I also looked on my insurance website but there are several listed there who are not "graded" on healthgrades. I called a doctor's office to ask if they will do an interview and she said your first appointment is really a consultation/interview. Well, that's an interview I have to PAY for! Also, my insurance only covers 8 office visits per year... :(

This is especially difficult with fertility issues because I don't know anyone in my area who is going through fertility issues so I can't ask friends for references.

I feel that finding the RIGHT doctor is very important; there are many doctors out there who are not necessarily good at what they do. I don't want wo waste time with a doctor I don't like or don't trust. Anyone have any suggestions on finding a GOOD doctor?

I always type their name in Google and see if they have any reviews. I use vitals.com. My first was rated high in the area and hard to get an appointment in. He wasn't worth a shit. The second one I'm seeing now, also has a high rating and is actually being thorough. So sometimes, if you don't like what your first says or he/she isn't thorough then it's best to go for a second opinion. BUT I can see you not wanting to waste your visits.

Any FS you see, the first appointment will be consultation no matter what. They won't perform any tests on you until the next appointment. They may make you go in for blood work. Next appointment is the ultrasound to check for cysts. Lastly is your HSG or lap and dye. Somewhere in there DH gets a SA..and then they have you come in for another appointment for test results, diagnosis, and what they're going to prescribe you...discuss your options. So far about 4-5 visits for the fertility testing alone.

Most fertility clinics have websites so I would start there, then cross reference with the info you find on vitals.com and healthgrades.com.

Mrs Pete, I am seeing one of the two REs in Ft. Myers (I live in Lehigh). Feel free to PM me, I would be glad to tell you about my experiences with him.
