does your doctor give u a prescription for it or do you have to be under hospital care??

xx

to be honest your gp is the best bet but you can get it over the net, has your gp mentioned it to you?

Im under hospital care. Had first round this month and was started on 100mgs and had scan after taking it to see if it had worked and to get advice when to bd! They were also checking to make sure it hadnt worked too well and produced a lot of follicles. Had other tests before they started the clomid though to rule out any other problems like blocked tubes:flower:

i only ask as im going to see my gp next friday as my once regular periods are now very rare,
we were referred to the hospital when ttc our daughter after 1.5 years of trying, they were going to do a dye thingy but just before, i finally fell pregnant.
Yet again it seems that it difficult to conceive, even more so this time as my periods have vanished.

I had all the tests at the gp last time to test for ovulation which came back that i wasnt ovulating, and i guess i got lucky that one month when my miricle baby was conceived!
hubby had spearm test too which was all normal.

do you reckon im in with a shot for clomid?
especially with my past difficulties?
xxxxx

Do NOT get it on the net. Seriously.

It's not only illegal but lots of them aren't even clomid but compressed talcom powder or even rat poison. Not only that, but do you trust an illegal company with your credit card details?

If you aren't ovulating speak to you doctor in the first instance to get bloods done to check. They will refer you from there.

It won't be your GP unless they have done work in fertility medicine as it's usually a specialist only drug.
As above please don't buy it on the internet, it needs monitoring because of the risk of causing Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome.

(COI: I am a GP and wouldn't prescribe clomid as it is outside my range of knowledge)

Hope that helps, and good luck

thankyou ladies
no im not planning on buying it online at all, too dodgy! lol

many thanks for all your help
xxxx

I think it depends on your area (in the UK) as to whether GP's will prescribe it. Mine said he would, but under advice from the local fertility clinic. He just called them up and spoke to them about my blood tests etc and they said I would benefit from it. He ended up not prescribing it (another story) but he would have if I had met the criteria.

One thing you may not get is ultrasounds to check for multiple eggs etc but I dont know specifically about that.

I got mine from my gp but she has a special interest in fertility. Good luck and I agree about the net. It doesnt bear thinking about what you could end up buying, xxx

Hi hun,

I was just wondering what tests they did before they put you on clomid. How did they test if your tubes were blocked? Bloods, scans, surgery?

Thanks x
