How do you go about making a fertility appointment?

The last time I tried, I told them what was going on.. And they did a regular yearly exam, and sent me on my way. When they asked about problems, they pretty much dismissed it.
I want answers. My husband and I desperately want a child. But I don't even know what to say when setting it up, and how to get them to take me seriously. Im a bit on the young side, but this is something we've wanted for almost two years now, and like I said, Im married.
Can anyone help? Im so sick of crying and feeling so defeated every month.

And I have no idea why this says im 29 weeks. lol ive never been pregnant, or even had a bfp.

I went to my GP and got a referral for a fertility doctor. It took about 2 months before I could get an appointment with him (the fertility doctor) but it was worth the wait. Usually they will ask you how long you have been trying and won't recommend seeing a fertility doctor if it's been under 12 months, so feel free to lie if it hasn't been that long?
A friend of mine went to this doc I'm seeing and she'd only been trying 5 months, I told her to give it a bit more patients but I think she just wanted to make sure everything was ok and find out when she ovulated. Anyway that month BFP! ha ha

If you feel like something may be wrong then I'd go see one, it just gives you peace of mind and if there is anything wrong (which I'm sure there is not) then better to find out now rather than wasting any more time I guess.

I would use google and narrow down from there. My OB/GYN also dismissed my concerns so I just found a specialist on my own. Depending on your options, I would pick a location either close to your work or your home.

If you don't like the RE, don't be afraid to switch! It is soooo important to find a doctor you trust and feel comfortable with. My RE guides me, but never tells me what to do. He is also 100% blunt which I like, because everyone else just tells you what you want to hear.

No need to lie! I've been trying since February 2012. lol I was just wondering what I tell them when I call?

Ha ha that's what I like about my guy too, no bull! I recently had a mucous test to make sure I wasn't killing off the :spermy: , he said if I wasn't (which I'm not :happydance: ) lots of doctors usually recommend IUI anyway. But he said there's not point if there's nothing wrong and after 4 or 5 goes at that, it's about the same cost as IVF with less success rate, so why bother.

He dismissed the whole "conserve sperm" method. He literally said "That's a load of crap, if you want to have a baby have sex as much as you can" lol unless there's a low sperm count, but even then you shouldn't conserve for more than a day or 2, it can make them worse.

Just say to them you are thinking about looking into getting some help conceiving. It's been nearly 2 years and you want to get checked out to make sure everything is ok or if you may have something that's stopping you conceiving naturally?
It's not too expensive and it's worth the cost to find out now rather than another 2 years down the track.

I would call an RE or fertility specialist and explain to them that you and your husband have been trying to conceive since last year with no success and you are concerned and may need help. If you don't want to go that route, I'd go to a different gynecologist and start there. It really sucks that your concerns were dismissed at your last yearly appointment. That doesn't help at all when you are frustrated about why you aren't becoming pregnant. :hugs: to you! I hope you get some answers soon. :flower:
