How do you know what CM type it is?

Hello there,

Can you please help me? I can't work out how to record my CM type? I don't have much in my knickers so have to investigate to find out and can't tell the difference between one and another type? Any help appreciated! Sorry if it's a bit TMI x

hey ,

without going into too much info .... from what i've read if you're not too ikky then apparently checking internally is the best way to do it ! There are a few ways i cant ever do the cervix wipe as can never find the lil blighter . basically the thicker & creamier it is this is your less fertile times but when you "check" and you feel very wet & it can stretch between your fingers then this is the super fertile stuff lol !!! I can't reach my cervix when I have tried before, it's high up apparently? It does help though thanks! Do you know what the different types are though? I read the description on FF and didn't find it too helpful as mine don't seem to fall into the right categories!x

WARNING WARNING TMI COMING UP WARNING WARNING

Right here we go , i'm finding it hard to chart just now as have skipped 2 AF's now as depo still in my system but i follow my cm just incase i get to catch that first eggy . I have days of being very dry and is sore and my cm is minimal ie none on my knickersthen it will change to a thicker creamy cm not like FF where they describe it as lotion like lol ... more kinda yoghurt texture ( i did warn you about TMI ) then it will change to much thinner and almost watery .... I've not had eggwhite cm as not ovulating just now hence the no AF !! but i think if i can get to know my cm in the meantime then i get a bit of a head start

mine gets very very thick and white after OV, not like lotion but much thicker, i just chart is as creamy. Near OV it gets very very watery so that my knickers even feel kind of wet.. egg white is easy to tell because it gets to stretchy.
the only thing i'm not sure of is what FF means when they say "sticky" havn't figured that one out yet

you dont have to reach to your cervix to check your CM, really you just have to slightly insert your finger to find some.

you should take a look at Taking Charge of Your Fertility.....it describes it very well with pictures.

It is a very helpful book for charting, cervical mucous and cervical position

Whew, glad to know someone else gets both the watery around ovulation and the creamy after!! Mine was SOOO watery this past cycle where I couldn't get any substantial amount on my fingers, but it was just wet wet wet down there. Then, right after ovulation, I got TONs of thick CM... Mine is actually lotiony though.

I am just glad to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't go watery-eggwhite-dry!!

Oh, and I seriously have trouble telling creamy apart from sticky. I usually go with creamy ... I'm not sure there is a super clear distinction between the two, if someone can explain that to me, I'd appreciate it!!!!

As for gathering near the cervix... TMI warning, but if you 'bear down' you can push your cervix closer... I had to learn this when I had to check my IUD strings.

When learning the difference between all the different kinds.. the first thing you want to check is the stretch... try and stretch it between you fingers... because if it won't stretch, its not EWCM... and really thats what you're looking for in the first place, right? Thats how I started learning and as you can tell, I still don't totally understand the difference between them all but I get by.

When it's clear and kind of the consistency off the clear part of an egg is when you are most fertile. I think the white kind is when your ovaries are getting ready, but not enough for the egg to come down yet.

really the only CM that matters is Watery and Egg White. They are the fertile CM

I totally agree with this, especially when it is further up around OV time it gets pretty hard for me to reach without doing so

I don't know how to check cervical position since I can't reach it most of the time without pushing it around... anyone know how to do that?

Well thank you ever so much, TMI was required in this instance! I shall give it a shot the next few months and see what that does to my FF charting, I have all the signs of OV and I have been using IC sticks which have never quite got to a positive result but they have got almost as dark so something must be happening down there!

eggwhite really is like eggwhite LOL its slippery too. Sticky is more 'tacky' than creamy CM. Is you get some inbetween ur two finger tips and push them together then slowly pull apart it kinda feels like you have a tiny bit of glue mixed in. HTH X
