Hi,

Our DD2 is 5 months old, and with DD1 I had lost the extra weight by this point. Its a whole different ball game this time however, as with having 2 to run around after during the day, I can't seem to cope with the lack of sleep like I did with Dd1. I crave rubbish (cakes, biscuits, chocolates, coffee, coke zero, take aways etc) as I need the calories, and after a hard day, I like to treat myself.

Its really getting me down now though that I don't seem to have the energy to shift this extra tummy fat. I was always 9.5 stone, and happy, now I'm nearly 11 stone and don't feel like myself. Strangely my clothes mostly all still fit from when I was slimmer (not sure how!!) but I know I look different in them.

How do I get the energy/motivation to eat right, exercise etc on 3 hours sleep! (some nights its that bad not all)

Try eating non-rubbish foods, the more you eat sugary or carby things, the more you crave them. If you can break the cycle, you can quit the cravings. Focus on protein and healthy fats, they will fill you up and keep you satiated longer than sugars and other carbs, and give you longer lasting energy.

I track my foods on myfitnesspal.com, it helps to see how much I am eating. I'm trying to lose, so I restrict my carbs and calories.

There is no secret, in order to lose weight calories in < calories out. The way to keep in manageable is to eat things that will fill you up and give you energy longer that are lower calorie, like proteins, and things that satiate you so you don't feel so hungry, like fats. And trust me on this, dietary fat (that you eat) does NOT make you gain body fat!

Thanks. Yeah I used the My Fitness Pal app on my phone when I lost weight with DD1, its scary actually the amount of little bits and bobs i eat that add up throughout the day. Grabbing a biscuit here and there is a road to disaster I know!

Thanks, I'm ordering my weekly food shop later and it will be full of chicken ;-)

It sounds counter productive but I just exercise anyway through the tiredness, I find it actually gives me more energy. I go to the gym a couple of times a week and do circuits/boot camp, haven't noticed much difference to my body yet but it makes me feel so much better mentally. I relate as I have a 7 month old and 3 year old and my baby has only recently started sleeping long stretches, I really feel the difference when I don't exercise too, plus I find it makes me want to eat better as I don't want to waste the work! I still eat a lot of chocolate though lol.

It sure is a struggle, isn't it! I'd love to just be able to eat whatever, whenever...but that's what got me so overweight! I'm the type who needs to plan out everything too, and then I can stick to it!

Thanks guys. I as BF DD2 for the first6 weeks and nearly ALL of my baby weight just fell off. If fact when I left hospital my tummy had pretty much gone, but since switching to formula, Ive piled it back on :-( gutted.

Oh well, Im back on my healthy eating (low carbs, no rubbish) and walking more. Fingers crossed its enough to make a difference. I need to lose about a stone (14lbs)
