I had my baby boy 25weeks (15weeks premature) we spent 131 days in the neonatal and came home on oxygen.
Just wondered how other mums are coping having a premie baby or being home on oxygen.

Congratulations on your little boy.

I had twin girls at 25 weeks. We lost Rebecca at 1 day old as her lungs were underdeveloped. Holly came home after 100 days but wasn't on oxygen so can't help with that.

The first year was hard worrying about her development as she had a grade IV ivh and the first winter I was a bit of a hermit. Between the ages of 1-2 it got slightly easier but was still worried with the second winter. From 2 years onwards it's def been a lot less stressful and this winter has been my least scary so far. She was 3 a couple of weeks ago x

Hi there,

My son was born at 27+3 and spent 82 days in hospital. He came home on 0.2l low flow O2. It was very scary at first but he is such a fighter and came off oxygen the day before he turned 6 months x

Congratulations on your baby boy. :)

We have Anya who was born at 23+6. She was in hospital for 136 days and came home on oxygen. She came home in March 2011, and was off day time oxygen in April. She then had a few sleep studies and came off night time oxygen in June 2011. She needed it a few times over winter and she had pneumonia and humanmetapneumovirus in June last year, but she has coped really well since then. Xx

Congratulations on your little boy! :flower:

My twins were born at 29+5 and spent 51 and 54 days in the NICU. They didn't come home on oxygen, but did come home on apnea monitors.

Mine were 28 weeks and 35 weeks -- they stayed in the NICU for 60 days and 21 days. Both of them came home on oxygen for a bit (during feeds for 1 week for my 28 weeker, and for 1 month for my 35 weeker). It's easier than you think, and you adjust!

My tiny titan was born at 28+4. Still in NICU currently, still on 3liter highflow. Hopefully will have no respiratory support by the time we go home!

My daughter was born at 29+5. She was in the NICU for 26 days, most of those days on CPAP. Then she got moved to my local hospital where she stayed for 36 more days in the nursery just to be monitored and learn how to eat.

Our tiny Jack was born 31+3wks spent only 28days in NICU so home 5 wks before due date, our youngest Oliver was born 34wks exactly and spent 7 days in NICU also home 5 wks before due date. We count ourselves incredibly lucky, Oliver also almost died at 9wks due to bronchilitis, chest infection and a collapsed lung. He was discharged within 4 days and no ill effects since.

My daughter Kiyah was born at 35 weeks and spent 14 days on a transitional care ward on the normal maternity wing.

My son Lucas was born at 31+2 weeks, he was not on oxygen initially but was ventilated at 2 days old when he became unwell he had surgery for a perforated bowel at 5 days old. He spent 37 days in NICU. He came home when he weighed 4lb 10oz with no monitors or oxygen. He now weighs just over 10lb x

My Michael was born 29w 5. weighing 2lb5. He was in hospital for 54 days, came home weighing 4 lbs, no oxygen needed. He only weighs 20lbs now...im seriously worried his little sister will become his 'biiger' sister the amount she is gaining :)

My daughter was born at 29 weeks
On cpap for 2 days, jaundice and was in the nicu for 35 days x

Congrats! My baby was born 32+1 weeks. He needed no respiratory assistance from day 1. He got sick from a bacterial infection right before we were going to go home and had to be onthe ventilator for 1day. He ended up staying in the nicu for 36 days but came home in great condition. It's been 2 months since he's been home and he hasn't been sick once!

Brooke was born 32+5 and Jude at 31 weeks exactly, weighing 2lb 4oz and 2lb 14oz respectively :)

x

My twins were born at 34+1, weighing 5lbs 13oz & 4lbs 7oz. I had steroid shots before delivery, and they were born breathing fine.
They stayed in the special care nursery for 3 weeks for a little jaundice, perfecting their sucking reflex and as feeders and growers.
Now happy, healthy 6 year olds.

My daughter was born at 31+3 and spent 24 days in the NICU and 7 days in the NPCU. She came home a month before her due date, and never required oxygen. She is now 2.5 months old and is weighing in at just over 7lbs and 20 inches long. She is doing great!

I finally have an end date for my sons NICU :D born at 28+4 and finally came home yesterday! 56 days in the NICU :)we are still on caffeine and a home monitor but ahhhh home at last

Thats great Stelly, you will be shot of the caffeine and monitor soon enough :flower:

My baby girl was born @35 weeks weighing 5lbs 1oz. She had no issues whatsoever and spent 2 weeks in Scbu feeder/grower.
