How far in advance do they recommend you start booking everything?

Like the church, etc.? We want the venue in a marquee if we get married in the summer, so what about that? And if it's a winter wedding what about the venue? How early do you send out invites? Book the food? Gaaaaah I'm confused!!

I don't need to worry about cake, flowers, photographer or dress makers luckily as I know one of each :) And I intend to make a lot of things myself like invitations, etc. so nothing to worry about there.

Sorry to waffle on, just thought I'd ask the experts :p To be honest I'll need help with pretty much everything! We're not engaged yet but I like to know everythng in advance because I know it won't be long now :cloud9: Thanks in advance

Tbh i'd book everything asap cos I left some things a bit later (like the hair and makeup lady) and my first couple of choices were already booked up and that was 6 months before my wedding! If you have your heart set on something then get it booked as soon as you decide on a date. x

i would say asap too. Im not getting married til june next year but my venue/registrar is booked and deposit paid.

Just one less thing to think about too if you do it sooner rather than later :D xx

Some venues get booked up to two years in advance during peak wedding season (May - September) so asap I would say. I've been lucky to get all my preferred suppliers, celebrant etc on the date I wanted x

Thanks for the help everyone :) We're hoping to get married in March so not peak time, so hopefully it'll be easier to book everything! *fingers crossed!* Thanks again :) xx

I would start booking asap too!

My other half proposed in August, we found our venue in the September and booked it straight away.

And the date we wanted wasn't available because the registrar was booked up, so we had to choose an alternative date.

Where invites are concerned, most people send out 'save the date' cards as soon as they book their wedding date, so people don't book holidays etc around that time.

We are on a small budget and we are getting married in august on the bank holiday weekend so we are sending our invites by the end of this month.

Most people send them out 3 months before hand I do believe.

xXx

If you're getting marrie din March thats only just over a year away so I say get booking :D

People think im mad for booking so early but i cant help myself

I have flowers picked out and everything! even did a trial run on my favours yesterday :haha:

Exited!!!:happydance:

Ohhh nooo not next April, the April after lol. If it was next April I'd be stressed already XD I'm one of those freaky over organised people lol :p Thanks guys :) You're all so helpful. It's nice to know there's always someone who can answer my stoopid questions! xx

I only got engaged on saturday and we are planning a 2012 wedding but im already on the search for a venue to get booked so we are dissapointed that we cant have our first choice due to it already been booked :)

To be honest, it depends entirely on where you are, what sort of wedding you want and when you're getting married. We booked our wedding last July/August time and we're getting married on April 7th this year. We had the guy at the venue and even the registrar confused about why we were sorting things out so early!! We're having a budget wedding in a restaurant in town. I would imagine that if you want a big country house or a fancy hotel then you would need to book earlier than we did but it is utterly possible to organise a non-registry office wedding in under a year, 6 months even. Stuff like the PA we only sorted out on Friday and we only ordered the rings last week. I've only just had the 1st fitting for my dress! We sent out the first wave of invitations with about 3 months to go and the rsvp end date is Wednesday. The evening invitations will be sent then when we have only 7 weeks to go! :happydance:

Hope this helps!

Beca
