Title of my post says it all!

When is it okay to start wearing compression undergarments after giving birth?

Do you mean like Spanx? Suck it all in knickers? If so I had an emcs last time and I started wearing them about a week after the op. I felt like they helped to "hold" everything in! My midwife also said that they can help recovery after the op as they help to support the scar. Mine weren't the mega tight ones you have to peel off but were medium hold and the ones that are massive belly warmers! I'll be doing the same this time around too.

like hold tummy in kickers? i dont suppose its a problem. although i suppose it could cause heavier bleeding depending on how tight.

I've been told I can continue to wear my SPD support tubigrip which is a similar thing really? Maybe ask your MW?

Thanks, ladies. I was thinking of a supportive garmet along the line of Spanx or post-partum panties. The type that come up about wait high and hold everything in.

I'm going to ask my MW about it on Friday! I'll update with her response!

i am interested in this, as i figured they would help support the skin around the tummy as it shrinks back.

I haven't even heard of this--I was recovering for so long I just wanted comfy!! Maybe this time I will try something like that, though Spanx are not really comfortable even on a normal day for me ...

Let us know what your MW says, but I bet it will depend on your recovery as they are all different...

I'm also going to wear my Carriwell support band which I have for my bump now. It's quite stretchy so hope it will be supportive enough for the first week as it can be quite uncomfortable after the op!

I forgot to ask my MW on my last appointment! Shesh! I knew there was something I was forgetting :)

I'll ask on my next visit!
