How long did it take for you ladies to recover? I don't know if Im tyring to push myself too hard. I've gone grocery shopping a couple times 3 weeks after my csection but was super sore and tired when I got home. I'm so sick of being at home all day long. Just going grocery shopping was nice but a little painful. I heard walking was really good for you after a csection. I'm trying to do more around the house. Doing dishes and putting on loads of clothes while baby is sleeping. Things like that. Whats recovery like for you ladies? What could you do and not do?

My little girl is now nearly 3 months and I'm glad to say I feel completely normal!

It's took a while, I remember my midwife telling me it takes a good 6 months to fully recover from a c section, so although I feel fine, I'm not going to go out running marathons or anything. (not that I would have done pre pregnancy!)

Recovery was a slow road... At 3 weeks I think I was going out shopping etc, and doing a lot of playing with my 4 year old. But as you said, I did tire easily and sudden abdominal movements would be painful. I think by about 8 weeks I was pretty much fine to do more, taking my son to school etc, pushing Alice in the pram.

Just go with what you feel comfortable with. If you start to tire, stop. No point doing too much and setting your self back.

Congrats on your baby by the way:flower:

My recovery after my first c-section was slower than this time as it took ages for my scar to heal. This time my scar was healed after 2-3 weeks & I have been walking, lifting my toddler, driving, starting some gentle-ish exercise by 6 weeks.

I had a very quick recovery time and felt fine after the first week but I did notice that when I overdid it my bleeding increased a lot (sorry if TMI) which was my bodys way of telling me to slow down

It took me a good 6 weeks to even feel a bit normal after c section, i was in agony all bent over with my scar feeling like it was on fire for a good 4 weeks. I might of had an infection, who knows, my doc gave me antibiotics just in case. My baby was hospitalised at 20 days old at that point i know that i felt pretty damn awfull and in pain with the scar..anyways when i was in hospital with him i had a shower and lost a huge clot (and i mean huge) after that slowly things improved so i think perhaps my body was trying to reject the clot??...my baby is now 19 weeks old and i am pretty much back to normal appart from the huge overhang..lol.xxx

I hate my huge overhang lol
Glad youre feeling better!

Right there with you on the issue of overhang. Mine is dreadful & I can't help but think it's gonna be a permanent fixture

I was really poorly during and after pregnancy but on the C-Section side of things, I started to feel better around 6 weeks pp. It was still sore and I still had to take it easy, but at around 2 months pp, I was moving house and I know I felt like I hadn't had surgery 8 weeks previous. At 5 months pp, I feel great and have the odd twinge in my scar when I strain it, but then again, muscles have the same effect. Hope you're recovering okay!

I had a few complications to deal with for my section, but I was feeling more normal after a week. My scar healed really quickly, and 3 months on I am dong everything I was doing before the surgery.

I went to a family party the day after discharge, 4 days post op. Went shopping day 5 for 2-3 hours, and by day 6 was back to doing light chores and cooking but still sore. I started going for about 30 minute walks at about 10 days post. We left the house probably 5 days a week since delivery. I didnt do any lifting until 5 weeks or so but otherwise was back to normal activity within 2 weeks. I took my pain pills every 6 hours or so the first week but more for back pain I think from moving differently from the sore abdomen. 9 weeks post now and still a bit of tenderness in my belly if the dog jumps on me and just this week started feeling comfortable laying on my belly.

Everyone recovers differently. You have to push yourself a bit every day but you will get there!

Wow, I must have been lucky with my 2 sections. Both times, I felt quite good a week later, and basically normal after 2 weeks. This time, I had a few days of uncomfortable soreness at 5 weeks pp (which worries me, as I had felt so great prior), and some bladder pains off and on. But really, overall a breeze. No overhang either:) though I expected one with my second.

With my first csection I can tell you I was sore forever. but with this one, it was completely different. I had my csection and delivered my baby at 9:47 pm, and was up walking in the morning to the bathroom just fine. A little sore, but not bad. My baby was in the NICU so I was constantly walking over there to see her, 3-4 times a day, and it was quite a walk from the recovery floor to the NICU. I took my 3 year old to a pumpkin patch 6 days after my csection and was a bit sore that night and next day, but have been doing normal things now since and it's 2 weeks tomorrow. I would just say that everyone is different and recovery is going to be longer for some, shorter for some, etc.

Im four weeks post section and feeling well. I've resumed all normal activities but do notice when I overdo it I get a bit sore. I bled for first three weeks, off and on...HATING the stretch marks and overhang but scared to start doing more strenuous exercising. I walk frequently, even if that means going to the store and pushing little one around! I've been driving to his doctors appts weekly and that is a 45 minute drive..I think everyone's recoveries are different!

I'm only 20 days post section, and I feel fine, getting on with everyday things. Go into town 3-4 times a week for around 4 hours. Only time I have a problem with my scar is when my underwear comes down and digs into it and whenever I laughed (until a week a go) it burnt, and felt like it was oozing hot matter. No other complications *touches wood*

I remember feeling like I was getting somewhere with my recovery at around 3 weeks and by my 6 week check I was feeling back to normal again. I was going out shopping regularly after about 2 weeks but it always ached when I got home and my bleeding would increase so in hindsight I probably did overdo it. I hated those first few weeks though, it was painful and emotionally draining but it does get better.

And I agree with everyone about hating the overhang:nope:

the day I went home from the hospital...3 days PP we stopped at the store on the way home from the hospital to get my meds and I walked around abit..very painful incision wise but I did it...its not even 2 weeks and Im fully healed outside incision but still a bit tender on the inside (coughing..blowing nose..sneezing..etc hurts)...

i had my son on 3rd, was out on 4th and ive been out and about 4 days this week. when nim in pain or uncomfortable i take pain relief, definitely dont suffer.

Im 2 weeks and 2 days pp and generally ok. I am getting pain in my scar area but not too sure if its the scar or period like pains and its not continuous. Will ask hv about it when I see her next week unless it gets worse then I will go to the doctors. The scar etc healed very well (mw's words)

My main problem is piles (tmi) They are really giving me some grief and Im trying to get rid of them on my own without going the doctors as I really don't fancy that chat lol
