I was in the bath about an hour after lo, never had option of a shower but don't think I could have stood long enough to have one. Had a shower when I went home later that day. I never heard that u couldn't bath, midwife just said not to use bubble bath for a while because of stitches.
I asked my mw abut this and she said that for it to aid healing it would have to be on a 1:1 ratio so half a bath of salt/half water. Don't think it works
I first had a bath 4 days after the birth when I got out of hospital (only had showered until then). My mw recommended baths with some tree and lavender oil to help the healing of my section scar.
I had a bath when Thomas was 1 day old. I had a shower after I gave birth in the hospital then I went to a birthing centre where you have a private room so I felt more comfortable to have a bath.
I had a shower after labour, and then was advised to have two baths a day...with lavender oil...to help my stitches. Had the two baths everyday for the first week, second week had one bath a day and one shower, now am just showering every day, and having the odd bath for a relax
2 days PP, they insisted I bathed twice a day in hospital to help keep my 3rd degree tear clean due to its location, the first day I had a shower though as I was shakey on my legs from the spinal and had a catheter in still.
