Of course ive showered since having baby! But im DYING to take a nice relaxing bath but ive been told not too since cervix may still be open and could cause an infection ect. He will four weeks old tomorrow, and I have stopped bleeding completely so would it be safe? Of course I dont have my doctors appointment for two weeks

After dd the mw made me have a bath about 2 hours after labour despite me refusing and promptly collapsing half way to the bath.

i took one the day after. I never heard your not allowed them for so many weeks after! Never had any problems :)

Never heard that either, I had one after a week and it was only that long as I couldn't sit down before lol x

I was told to have a bath every day for the couple of weeks after hving lo to help stitches heal. I was also told to put 3 drops of lavendar oil and a shot glass measure of milk in to help with any infection that might start.

Luckily no infection, a relatively quick heal and I was back in the shower after two weeks on the dot. I hate baths :haha:

Never heard that a bath is an infection risk and I did two year training as a mw

I had a bath about 3hrs after LO was born

I had a tear too and the mv said to wee in the bath whenever i could to stop the sting x

I had stitches, tears, grazes .. The lot! :( lol.. I was told to get a bath as soon as I'd been stitched up! (about 1hr after birth).. Then I got a bath the day after... I got told that wee-ing in the bath helped the sting.. But it didn't do it for me.. Drinking LOADS of water stopped the stinging for me :)

That's very old fashioned advice hun, as pp have said thesedays most are reccomended to have baths to help with healing. So I'm sure you'll be fine now x

About 2hrs, had a couple of baths each day for 2weeks after , they were a blessing :) hx

I had one the second night I was home, so 3days PP because I had stitches and grazes and it helped to heal them by soaking in the bath for a while. Then did this nearly every night for about two weeks x

The same day!

My consultnat advised it to help keep the area around the third degree tear clean. It isnt easy to "clean" down there due to the pain so she always suggests soaking in a bath on a bath towel to help you get in and out.

But using no additives like foam or tea tree oil. Just warm water:thumbup:

I had a shower 30mins PP, then a bath later on. Had LO at 12.30am & had a bath about 7pm

Oh gosh! Thats good to know, I will be taking a bath as soon baby falls asleep tonight! :)

I told putting salt in the bath helps with healing too?

I asked my mw abut this and she said that for it to aid healing it would have to be on a 1:1 ratio so half a bath of salt/half water. Don't think it works

I had forceps and episiotomy, told to take lukewarm saltwater baths which helped loads with the healing and my comfort! I had my first bath a few days (think it was four) after giving birth x

My MW had me take a bath just hours after I gave birth.

i havent had one since i gave birth. i loooove showers lol, baths make me feel dirty :haha:
