How long after MC to try again?

This sounds terrible as i've only just stopped bleeding after early MC but I want to know how long I should wait before TTC, the doc did say get 1 AF before trying again. I have read so much about people TTC right away, I was wondering what other people's opinions are.
I'm quite eager to try again and cant wait to see that once again

Hi Hun, so sorry for your loss. Don't feel terrible about wanting to TTC again so soon, I think there is a lot of us that feel the same way. I m/c at 17w, 6 weeks ago now and within the first two weeks was desperate to TTC.

Personally I am TTC already, I haven't had my 1st AF and I'm not waiting, my reasoning is that I'm 30 now and between last two it's taken me 18months so I don't want to wait too long.

I think the general thoughts from reading other posts are that you should TTC whenever you feel ready to, your body will not get pregnant if it's not ready to and the only reason they suggest waiting for AF is for easier dating on the GP's part. Obviously if you've been advised to wait for medical reasons then it's a different story.

Thanx for your advice. I havent been advised to wait for medical reasons, I think it is as you said for dating reasons for the gp's.
I'm 31 and I dont want to waste any time either, I have 4.5 yrs approx between my boys and i've had 2 MC. I'm just terrified of it happening all over again but I do want one more child before i'm too old.

hi Nikki.....i;m 31 too and have had 2 mcs....it's an awful time...and i can only offer you hugs for your pain.....

it is best to wait a little...you need to heal both pyhsically and emotionally.....my first mc was in march 08, second in dec 08....just got my 3rd bfp and am absolutely terrified that it will happen again.....

hope you get a sticky bfp soon though......

Definatley agree with the other ladies! Its been nearly 1 year since my mc and Im still waiting for my I would go for it when you feel ready.

Hi there,
I had a D&C 4 weeks ago still not had AF but decided to start trying again once the bleeding had stopped, i do think its up to the individual person when to try again but i really didnt want to wait i think that because the only reason they say to wait for 1 cycle is to date it and for me thats not a good enough reason to wait.
Hope you make whatever is the right decision for you and your OH.

I have had 5 miscarriages, I have a 2 year old daughter and am 27 weeks. I asked the consultant this question, and he said that if my body ovulated then it was ready to go. My advice is that if you are eager to get pregnant again then go for it. Also I found the most effective way of conceiving was to have sex on alternate days as soon as possible following my period right the way through the month. Every time we managed to do this without missing a go, I became pregnant. Sometimes its a pain and feels unatural if you are not in the mood, but it worked for us. I have been pregnant 7 times in the past 4 years.

We had problems concieving our second child, and after my 2nd m/c, I have got pg straight away.
I asked my midwife if this was ok, she laughed and said they only like you to wait for dating reason, nothing to do with health.
If you are emotionally ready to try, then go for it.
Especially if like me, you have had problems falling pg, you are so much more fertile in the first cycle after a m/c.

I miscarried in January this year and we started trying again as soon as bleeding stopped (it was an early miscarriage at 5w4d) as I needed to move on and not dwell on what had happened but do something positive about it which in my eyes was to keep trying. Obviously some people need more time than others so it has to be a personal decision.

As for me - well the 2nd month of trying after mc I have just got another bfp - still very early days and praying this one sticks.

Thanx I'm just going to take it as it happens for now, I bought some ebay ovulation sticks and as my hcg test was on Wednesday I decided to try the ov ones and to my surprise on Thurs it was Pos so I guess I'm gettin back to normal and there may be some luck as we happened to just a few hours before I did the ov test.

I am right there with you about wanting to try again asap. I had my follow up after my m/c yesterday and dr said we could try again at this point but would prefer me to wait til 1 af. Good luck to you

I suffered a miscarriage last Friday and personally can't wait to get back to ' normal ' so i can start again.
It's your personal choice at the end of the day !
All my hubby's tight pants have gone back away again to make way for looser ones.

Hi girls

I miscarried in February after getting pregnant in our first month ttc. The 2 GPs and a midwife I saw all said it was fine to start trying again straight away, so we did! My first AF since mc has just shown today, so we obviously didn't manage it this month, but hopefully now my cycle is going back to normal so ovulation will be a bit easier to predict next time.

My DH and I waited until the bleeding stopped and started again right away, though the dr's said to wait one cycle, but I had been told that you're very fertile after a m/c so figured what the hey.
