How long and how many times a day?

So far, I have been feeding Mia every 4 hrs.
If I pump and feed her then I give her about 80 ml in one go.
If I breast feed her, I let her stay on for about an hour.

Does that seem like it is enough?

She has gained 8 oz in 6 days being fed this way.

thanks!

He feeds every 3 hours, and gets about 3.5 onz everytime.
I have to do breastmilk + formula though, because I don't produce enough.
I don't know how much he's gain, but last friday he was back at his birth weight (8 lbs 2onz) I can tell he's gain some weight as he's getting really chubby!

I always fed on demand, which amounted to every 2 hours (with first baby) and because I bf, I have no idea how much she took at a time.

As soon as she started to 'root' I latched her on and she ended up going from 5lb 5oz when we went home, to 90% percentile in height and weight by 4 weeks old ;) lol.

Do you think what I am doing seems like it is enough?
I am still very clueless :(

Aqua, if baby is giving you that drunk sailor look after feeding, and she is wetting 10 or more diapers a day, and she is growing like a weed (which she is ;)) you are doing awesome mama!

You're coming up on a big milestone now though at 10 days she'll have a good sized growth spurt. Be on the lookout for her wanting to feed ALL THE TIME. This helps establish your milk and changes it's composition to better satisfy her till the next growth spurt.

If you find that she still doesn't seem satisfied, make sure you are massaging the hindmilk out of your breasts. I had some trouble getting the milk glands up near my armpits to drain well, and when I finally did that (you can massage them gently as Mia feeds) she was way more satisfied.

This is a beautiful dance that you and Mia are doing... You produce exactly what she needs in a more complex and interactive way than what you did when you were pregnant with her. It can be frustrating and scary and wonderful and satisfying all at the same time. Hang in there!

My little one feeds for short periods several times a day. I find she usually stays on for only about 15-20min and I need to feed her at least every two hours. If I pump she usually takes around 3oz (90ml). Right now she has hit a nice little growth spurt and sometimes wants the breast every hour. Thankfully she eats about every 3 hours at night. She already surpassed her birthweight once she was a week old

Sounds like youre doing a fantastic job at bf'ing aqua! I wish my LO would have the attention span to stay on for an hour--- she tends to get way too comfy and fall asleep after only a few minutes... rousing her out of sleep can get to be a bit tricky hehe

I'm just feeding on demand. Normally he only feeds for about 10-20 minutes at a time and eats every 2-3 hours. He's gained 7 oz in 3 days so feeding on demand seems to be working out pretty well for us.

At night I feed when he starts waking up, I would say every 3 to 3 1/2 hours.

mine seems to feed so much i feed on demand he seems to feed about 4 times in between 8am - 1am for about an hour a time then he seems to be up all night inbeween 1am-8am i hardly get any sleep at night sometimes hes on for 2 hours solid then hel have a half hour break and back on for an hour :hissy:

Gosh 2 hours at a time, you must be tired. Baby's tummy must be full ? comfort sucking. Does your breast feel empty after each feed
