oh :( they asked about any problems with the pregnancy, birth and afterwards , i only had Cholestasis so he was fine and passed his black nappy but Drs shouldnt take it lightly because it could be something from when he was a baby xx

I went into prem labour at 31 weeks, but they stopped that...he was born at 40+1 with forceps then in SCBU for 6 days.x

you see it could be anything ! x They did really well to stop your prem labour didnt they :) why was he in SCUBU if you dont mind me asking x

Thank you :) its hard to believe its the same boy.xx

Hey hun x
Tegan has movicol (up to 4 sachets a day depending on how constipated she is) and has had it since she was 10 months old. What the doctors don't tell you is that you can put it in ANY fluid - or mix it into yogurt. Tegan has hers in chocolate milkshake now :) Because if she gets badly constipated it could block her shunt (a tube that drains excess fluid from her brain into her abdominal cavity). Over time she's had it in water, milk, yogurt, and now chocolate milk. It works very well if you use the right dosage. We didn't know until very recently that they can have up to 4 a day for chronic constipation and 8 a day for fecal impaction which Tegan has had a few times.
Has your doctor referred you to a consultant about it? It is very very different for us because Tegan's constipation is a major symptom of her SB (she has no control of her bladder and bowels and physically can't push to go toilet because her nerves are not connected)
Will he eat prunes? Drink orange juice? There used to be a lot of foods that helped Tegan no but now she can't go at all without Movicol and will probably be having an operation in the near future to put in a stoma which will then be used to flush her bowels out.
Hope he gets better soon x

Hi hun,Nope the doc hasn't referred him to a consultant...I think I am going to have to kick up a fuss about it to get anywhere.
I didn't know I could put it in a yog,I might try that.xx

We put in Muller Stars. One sachet per yogurt (this was when Tegan was about Harvery's age) also, never let him see you do it, one of the main reasons Tegan refuses hers is when she see's us put it in! We also make sure we give it to her at her thirstiest time of day (first thing in a morning) x

Will try that, thanks hun.do you still think its worth kicking up a fuss about getting his referred?as I said earlier in the thread,I think they are treating the symptom rather than the cause..xx

***UPDATE*****

Well went back to the docs this morning, got an appointment with a doctor I don't like...but she has referred Harvey to the Norfolk and Norwich for further tests...she said it should be about 1-2 weeks before he is seen :happydance: finally!!!

Glad he's having some tests hun! Obviously we know the cause of Tegan's so that was never the problem and her SB will never get better so she'll be like this for life, but I really hope they can sort something permanent out for Harvey! x

Thanks hun...I hope they do something too....she only managed to 1 dig in today!usually she says he is wearing too many clothes, but today she said 'well he is a big boy isn't he?' I was fuming!!!He is Mr Average for his age.x
