How long before your period returned?

I breastfed my eldest son til he was 1 and then he self weaned my cycles returned and I fall pregnant that same month with my youngest son. He's now 11 months and no sign of my cycles returning yet.

Will it be that they won't return til my son stops completely like it did with my eldest son? I only ask as would like to ttc in the next few months and its going to make it harder if I'm not ovulating.

Has anyone fallen pregnant whilst bf? x

I got mine back at 13 months and she's still nursing quite frequently. So yes, definitely possible to get your cycles back while still breastfeeding. It's even possible to get pregnant without AF returning.

I got pregnant at 12.5 months after DD, no AF at all. This was 6 weeks after going back to work and 5 weeks after she started STTN.

I got AF back at 16 months after DS. This was 2 months after stopping Tandem Nursing and 4 weeks after he started STTN.

With my DS my cycles didn't return until I was done nursing him. And because I was a single mom I wasn't DTD or anything ttc related.
With my little one now, I had some light bleeding and that was 58 days ago!
I really think I'm ovulating because Ive had some major ovulation symptoms. But no AF yet.
I'm married now and we DTD so I'm freaking out every week wanting to test because I have no idea what's going on.

my son is 11 weeks and just got my period, only 10 days after ovulation though! i breast feed 5 times a day and he get 1 bottle during the night, might be why i started so soon!

With my eldest it came back at 5 months he stopped BFing at 7 months and a week and a half to two weeks later I got pregnant with second eldest. With second eldest period returned at 10 months got pregnant when he was 12 months and just about still BF though he went on a nursing strike and stopped very early into the pregnancy. With middle son he was FF starting from 3.5 months (medical reasons) but my period didn't return until he was 10 months and he was 3.5 when I had my second youngest. Second youngest got my period back when he was about 11 months but then my cycles went all askew and I had a serious luteal phase defect, it was only 5 days long. Started taking b6 when he was 19 months and first cycle taking it was totally normal but due to taking strong NSAIDs that month because of a throat infection we held off TTC that month, the next month I got pregnant right away. Second youngest BF throughout the pregnancy and tandem nurses now though he only nurses once or twice in 48 hours as he is no longer keen on the taste of mummy milk (my milk was gone for several months during my pregnancy) xx

Got mine back 6 weeks after DD#1, four months after DD#2. I've had a right pity party about that once a month ever since... lol

So it seems there is no pattern and I can get it tomorrow or in a year! Craziness...

11 months. AF has just appeared again with a cycle length of 43 day which is a bit long so obviously my body isnt quite back to normal yet.

Thanks for the replies ladies its crazy how people get them at different times. Harley still feeds throughout the night and has no routine at all but we are slowly trying to ease him into one.

I think I will just try and track ovulation then as I do get the odd sign now and again but nothing comes of it. x

9 months and no sign of period. Feed about 6x a day and STTN since 8 weeks old. I really hope it never, ever comes back. Ever. Never ever.

with my son it was 8 weeks, i was expressing a feeding him aswell. With my daughter it returned at 5 1/2 months, was kinda hopeing it would stay away a while longer, but hey ho!

AF returned for me when my son was 4.5 months old. I've had 6 cycles since giving birth and they are irregular still and range from 26-37 days. When AF returned, I was bed-sharing, EBF on demand and DS wasn't STTN. (we still have that same "routine.") I figured AF wouldn't come back for quite some time!

Just got mine at 8 weeks! Ugh...But there was a few weeks where I was pumping and bottle feeding a lot!

Got mine at 6 months pp. They've been pretty irregular though (but pain free which I'm so happy about)! Currently in cycle 5 ttc #2

7 months - coincided with Maddie dropping nightfeeds. It's weird because I am not on the pill (and was for 8 years before conceiving) I really notice the hormones when I have PMT . We're TTC as of August (gulp) and so far they have been regular and ovulation symptoms have timed about right so hoping we're in good shape.

In my NCT group - all BFing - 4 out of 6 have got their periods back. But I do think it's pretty random xx
