Hi there,

I'm just looking for some positive stories here, I'm not pregnant again yet (I did have a panic when I came off cerazette and didn't bleed for 4 weeks though!) but am planning on ttc once my LG turns 1 in April 2014.
I keep hearing people say/reading online scary stories about uterine rupture when pregnancy is so soon after a c section.

So how long have people waited after having a c section before ttc? Because I'm scared about a year not being long enough after reading you should wait 18-24 months somewhere!!!

hi I wouldn't worry too much about uterine rupture, although it can happen its extremely rare. It can happen if you opt for a natural labour this time, but the chances of it occurring is something like 0.5%, are u going to vbac or will u be having another section?

My first to c sections were just under 11 months apart after falling pregnant very quickly just two months after I lost my first daughter, and had no issues whatsoever, u will be monitored more closely so I wouldn't worry too much.

I am now pregnant again and will be having a third section in October.

Good luck when u fall pregnant, and don't worry your body has had plenty of time to recover xox

Thanks jenn, and I'm so sorry for the loss of your daughter :hugs:

I'm thinking possibly another section. I'd love to have the guts to try vbac but after a horrible labour and birth that ended in an emergency c section I think I would be too scared. She got stuck and ended up in distress and she was back to back so they couldn't use forceps or ventouse.
Thanks for your advice, there's just so many things to worry about when it comes to pregnancy and birth!

Just take your time and be sure about birth method, I went for a second section after a fantastic first section and amazing recovery, but my second has been nothing but disaster, massive blood loss, haematomas, wound reopening and infection that has taken 4 months to start feeling better.

Not an anti-c section ranter lol, as my first was great and I couldn't wait for the second one, but just be really aware how badly things can go with a c section too and weigh up both options, mine was the worst decision I've made! Good luck either way! :)

Just want to bump this as I am currently awaiting the arrival if AF that should have come today, and although I have AF cramps I know all too well that they could be early pregnancy pains and I'm getting myself worried! I know the risks are small, and if I were pregnant right now I don't think I'd opt for vbac due to the short gap between births, but I can't help but worry!

Also the propect of having 2 under 2 is scary especially as my df works evenings and weekends so a lot of the time I'm on my own!

So if anyone has any experience please can you let me know, calm myself from worrying (despite the fact that AF isn't even technically late and I got a BFN on an IC lol)

I got pg with ds2 when ds1 was 10 months. Ds1 was breech and my ob/gyn gave me the go ahead for a vbac. I opted for another CS. He told me it wasnt necessary but I wanted to as a personal preference this time.

There is a very small risk of uterine rupture if you attempt a vbac, but the chances are very low from what I've been told. If you are truly worried ask for another CS. I found my second one to be easier and I've had a quicker and easier recovery. Your health and baby's safety are the most important factors.

My Doctor told me 12 months.

I'm now thinking that my cycles are messed up after several BFNs and still no sign of AF, but thanks for the responses. We are hoping to wait until after Christmas at least so there will be 18 months between the births, but that will all depend on the outcome of this current strange cycle!

I got pregnant with dd2 when dd1 was 5 months. I'm having another c section October 4th. My dr didn't seem concerned at all when he found out I was pregnant again..

I think in other countries they seem more individual in their advice than here in the UK, or at least more so than my doctors practice! It seems they don't look at people individually and just give a blanket 18 month advice line, probably because they have no idea how my c section went. I do wish they would pay more attention to these things but they seem to like to play it safe and just give the same advice to everyone. When I mentioned ttc when Emilia was 1 my doctor said that would be ok but she would prefer I wait longer as that's the general advice.

I still actually don't know if I am pregnant right now, because I think I'm 16dpo and no AF and BFN. All I can do is wait!

But thanks ladies for your stories and GL to those currently pregnant!

My son was born Oct 2010 emcs due to failed forceps delivery. I was never given any time length for my second but I had no intention of having one to soon lol. Came off the pill April 2012 so 18 months after and fell pregnant Aug 2012 so 22 months after my section. Sebastian was born May 2013 by vbac. Amazing experience! I have 2 yrs 7 months between them. Drs were very pro vbac (which was what I wanted) and seemed happy with the gap.
Uterine rupture is rare. Slight increased risk with vbac but any woman having had svc section is at risk in subsequent pregnancy as rupture can occur during pregnancy and during c section delivery. It's rare but please don't think it's only vbac. Good luck with whatever you choose x

Pregnant with baby #2 10 months after my daughter was born via elcs. So far I feel great. Will let you know if there are complications later on.

Hey there! Same situation. First baby was breech, so I had an elective cs, and 10 months later got pregnant with second. Curious about vbac but leaning toward a repeat cs. Glad you had an even easier recovery with ds2! My first cs wasn't bad at all, and I'd love another smooth delivery.

DD1 was 7 months when I got pregnant with DD2....
DD2 was almost a year old when I got pregnant this time.
Both were born via EMCS but both went well, so this time I opted for an elective :flower:
