How long did your doctor say to wait?

I had a d&c on Nov. 4, and my doctor said that if I get AF in Dec, we can start to try again after Jan AF. Some doctors say one cycle, some say three, but mine said... two? Just out of curiosity, how long did your doctor say to wait? Did you listen? Thanks!

I'm talking to mine in more detail in two weeks but at the d and c he said just wait for one af.

Mine said to wait three cycles after my D&C. Do I intend to listen? Probably not, no. (I'm nearly 2 months post D&C and still have positive hcg counts, though AF did visit, anyway. I'm getting seriously impatient with my crazy body.) I've been told there's not really a medical reason to wait.

I had natural mc, my doc said to wait at least one cycle. But We couldnt wait! Now im 4 weeks pregnant.

Three doctors told me I didn't have to wait at all. Not even for AF. Its an old school thing because of dating thats all. If everything went well with the d&c then you can go for it. My midwife said hormones take over and if your body is ready, then its ready. If you see what I mean.

I had a mc at 8w and then got pregnant again straight away with my dd1 without waiting for af. I am waiting to mc now (I'm only 4.5wks) and won't be waiting. I agree with Tui, if your body isn't ready for another pregnancy then you won't get pregnant.

I was told 3 months after the D&C xx

Had my D&C on October 20, and the doctor said to wait till January to allow me to recover emotionally more than anything else. For medical reasons he said there's no need to wait, although for dating purposes it's better if I wait at least 1 cycle.

I think we might go ahead and try after AF then... I just don't want her to look at me funny when I walk in for an 8wk appointment the first week of February after she told us to wait until January. That's being a little presumptuous, but we got pregnant first cycle last time. Considering you are usually more fertile after a pregnancy, I don't see why I couldn't catch it the first time. I have my 2wk follow-up appointment tomorrow afternoon and I will make it a point to specifically ask her if we can go ahead and start in december. I stopped bleeding quickly and I have been feeling fine, so maybe she will give me the all clear. cycle-wise I seem to be doing something because my cm is getting close to ewcm... maybe af will just show up like usual on cd31-32. We shall see!

I’ve read it can be easier to conceive after a pregnancy or miscarriage, but I’m too scared to try again right away and have another miscarriage because my uterus lining hasn’t built up properly.

I’d love to fall pregnant easily again but I dare not believe it will happen… For some women it does, and others are still trying months later. It’s been over 4 weeks since my D&C and there’s still no sign of AF, I really hope it won’t take months to come back. Hope yours will be here soon!

Let us know what happens at your appointment.

I got pregnant first month of trying in June. Had a d&c August 20. I'm now on cd 7 of my 4th cycle and have been trying since and still not pregnant. Hoping December will be our month. I use opks and temped last month. She had told me to wait 2 cycles but if I did get pregnant it wasn't a huge deal. It's more of a convention to wait she said.

Thanks so much for all of the responses. My appointment is in a few hours, so I will definitely tell her that we would like to go ahead and try in December. I would love a September baby... due date would be less than a week after my birthday if my cycles return to normal. What a fantastic birthday present after losing the first.

So as soon as AF arrives, I am good to go. She said ntnp, but I also subscribe to the theory that if the body is ready, the body is ready. I will probably go ahead and track O in december and see what happens. YAY!!!

Good luck kd! Hope you get your rainbow for your birthday!

Great news!

I had a natural mc last month and the Dr said we could try again straight away, she said that we are most very fertile for around 6 weeks after a mc. I think sometimes they say to wait after a d&c for lining to build up again but I'm too a big believer in that if the body is ready then that's cool :)

YAY! Hope you catch your egg straight away!

Did she explain why that is? I have read on google that it may be the lingering hcg in your system which acts like a trigger shot or because your cervix is slightly more open but that's just google so it could be telling me lies  I know whatever it is, worked after the last mc but that was at 8 weeks. This time I had been pregnant for less than a week, not sure if it counts.

I had natural mc in December and was pregnant again in April.
I didn't get af that January.

She said it was to do with hormones in your body which stimulate your ovaries to release eggs so some ladies will ov multiple times. No idea of that's true or not, I personally think it will vary from woman to woman.
